Third Asiana Victim Identified The third victim of the Asiana plane crash was identified late Friday by the San Mateo County coroner. The victim, 15-year-old Wipeng Liu, died at San Francisco General Hospital on Friday afternoon, the result of injuries sustained in the crash. She was a Chinese national. The hospital is still treating five adults and a child injured in the crash. Two of the adults are in critical condition, and the other patients are in conditions ranging from serious to fair to good. San Francisco General has handled a total of 67 patients injured in the crash. Read it at NBC Bay Area Mechanical Failure 3. Track Flaw Derailed French Train Authorities believe they have identified the cause of a train crash south of Paris that took six lives on Friday. After the transport ministry ruled out human error, the state rail company acknowledged that the crash was due to a fault in the train tracks. A metal bar connecting two rails had come loose near the Brétigny-sur-Orge station where the train was derailed, injuring thirty passengers, eight of them seriously. Despite the consequences of the crash, the train driver has been praised for averting a worse accident. Investigations are expected to focus on how the bar first came loose. Read it at BBC Take Two 4. Texas Passes Abortion Bill Well, we didn't expect it to happen a second time. The abortion bill successfully blocked last month by Wendy Williams and the Democratic bloc of the Texas Legislature was given final passage by its Senate on Friday. The vote stood 19-11. Among other restrictions, the bill, which is expected to be signed by Gov. Rick Perry, bans abortions after 20 weeks and subjects abortion clinics to the standards of hospital surgical centers. Although the bill was ostensibly intended to protect women's health, Perry said after its passage that it would "defend our smallest and most vulnerable Texans and future Texans."
