Unemployment: Report Says Jobs Hole Could Persist For A Decade (CHART)

Daruma DaijinImage by What What via Flickr

Define a "more horrifying chart" than that one on the jobless recovery or double dip recession (whatever we're officially in!). A "lost decade" - ask Japan how that is working out?
Read the Article at HuffingtonPost

Good luck to all in finding a job, but you'd better start thinking about how you can strike out on your own to make your own future, rather than waiting on a call or email for a job that likely is simply not there!

Can You Outsource EVERYTHING in Government?: Is a New Trend Starting in California?

Maywood CAImage via Wikipedia
Here's a VERY interesting development out of California (hey, isn't that where all trends really start?). And it is a trend that should scare the living bejesus out of any governmental worker at any level (hey, that includes me - OMG!). This is a story out of Maywood, California, a small community that has now outsourced EVERY CITY JOB - even the police and fire departments! Hey, radical times call for radical solutions - but can you see other communities - even states perhaps - make this a trend. We have already seen the federal government come to rely on contractors to a far greater extent than ever before, so will we see this - in all or in part - at the local and state levels as well.

Read about the Maywood, CA story in this article entitled, "City fires all staff, outsources everything," that comes to us via The New York Times and msnbc.com:
NYT: City fires all staff, outsources everything - U.S. news - The New York Times - msnbc.com

So, whadya think? Post your comments on the blog and I'll do a follow-up posting that will feature them. In the meantime, by all means, share this blog post with your friends and family. It will especially "Make My Day" for them if they work for any local or state government!
