And we are surprised??? Maybe we should be shocked by the size and magnitude of the disparity (10 times - a wow number!), but in a nutshell, this report shows that football does rule and drive the whole athletics bus - and increasingly, all of this is becoming more - not less - intertwined with the institution and its fortunes (or lack thereof)!

Speaking from the student-facing side of the equation, I can say that there are many, many things that go into such perceptions of "best." We are, however, in an increasingly competitive, global market in higher education - all all college and university leaders need to recognize that fact. Perceptions and feedback do matter, and all of us in higher ed need to be mindful that word of mouth - about our colleges, our institutions, our colleagues, and ourselves - all of which increasingly is online and available for all to see and to check before choosing an individual class - or their college - where they will spend tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars!
