Gotta watch those celebrations, kids! Show this video to all youth players - yes, an unfortunate accident, but it could have been avoided by just not showboating!

The Fake BP Oil Spill Response: 'Army Of Temp Workers' Bused To Grand Isle For Obama Appearance Leave Soon Afterward

BP LogoImage via Wikipedia

Hard to believe - spin can be useful, but this is ridiculous. We want transparency, not BP being transparent in its PR. This is perhaps the most shameful behavior on the part of any corporation we've seen - period!

Wow, must have been one heckuva trip for that Wyoming college president down in Costa Rica. Must be some smoke there for them to have went to this much trouble to try and bury the story. Keep tuned....sure the order will be reverse based on long-standing legal precedent and we will find out if it was a "bimbo eruption" or a "Margaritaville situation"!

Gulf Oil Spill: Obama To Aides - 'Plug The Damn Hole'

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...Image via Wikipedia

If this "top kill" method (don't you love how we all become cable TV commentator-level experts at times like this) doesn't work and this oil spill continues to spew muck until mid-August when the relief well is finished, we may see that failing to "plug the damn hole" may indeed be this President's downfall. Shows that we definitely have not learned the lessons of Katrina in any way, shape or form!

Sexual Assault On Plane: Ramesh Advani Arrested For Sexually Abusing Passenger On Continental Flight

Image representing Huffington Post as depicted...Image via CrunchBase

Book'em Dano! Not a cool move - the only question I'd have is jurisdiction when something like this happens on an international flight. Is it U.S. because the flight ended here and it was a U.S. carrier (Continental Airlines), or is it Hong Kong because the flight originated there? Might it be "where" the assault might have taken place during the course of the flight? An interesting international law case - but certainly, our thoughts go out to the woman for this horrible violation. May spur new regulations for those hours on an international overseas flight where the flight crew disappears from the cabin for the most part. Big settlement coming her way from Continental!

Texas Rangers Bankruptcy: Team To Be Sold By Midsummer

Nolan Ryan's HOF plaqueImage via Wikipedia

Well, at least the Texas Rangers will go down in sports history for one noteworthy dubious achievement. Sad state of affairs in Arlington, but hope that Nolan Ryan can turn things around - at least they'll have an owner who can open-up a can of Whoop-ass when need be. For you youngsters, while Nolan Ryan was one of baseball's best pitchers ever, here's the moment he's most famous for:

Want to tell the owner you want a new contract? Don't think so....

American Needle Supreme Court Ruling: NFL Loses Lawsuit

The new NFL logo went into use at the 2008 draft.Image via Wikipedia

Wow, the NFL never loses! This could be a huge ruling with implications across professional sports, as the anti-trust doctrine appears to be withering away for pro football and baseball. We will see, but this could turn-out to be a significant victory for fans, for players, and for merchandisers.

Do yourself a favor and watch the original News of the World (hey, now everyone's credible after the National Enquirer is up for a Pulitzer Prize for breaking the Tiger Woods' story):

You know, the British tabloids and mainstream press will have a field day with this. And look for a major government investigation into how the royals handle their affairs - it could be the beginning of the end for the monarchy. This looks like it wasn't her first time - and if it involves the Prince, then it is indeed a huge scandal.

One to stay tuned for...(thank goodness for those tiny cameras!!)

For Gulf Coast Fishermen, The Future Is Very Bleak

Image representing Huffington Post as depicted...Image via CrunchBase

Being near New Orleans, I can safely say that the impact of the oil spill on the whole area will be huge - and lasting. There will be whole towns along the coast that will be wiped-out economically and ecologically because of this - can any amount of compensation from BP and/or the Feds make that right - I think not!

If you want to see a great story from New Orleans WWL-TV on this - with a great gentleman - see my blog post at http://wyld-business.blogspot.com/2010/05/oil-spill-halts-94-year-old-fisherman.html

Human Health Tragedy in the Making: Gulf Response Failing to Protect People

Map of the northern Gulf of Mexico showing the...Image via Wikipedia

Wow, BP and the feds keep looking worse and worse (just when you think that's not possible). What a nightmare for those of us along the Gulf Coast - from Coastal Louisiana to Miami Beach and the Florida Keys, this is truly becoming perhaps the greatest ecological and economic man-made disaster of all time. Unfortunately, just get ready, as the long-term effects are likely to be high - and the aquatic and human tolls are likely to be staggering! The reality is that nothing that BP can do can likely repair what has happened, and all the money in the world (even more than BP has) won't make things right.

Facebook Alternatives: Other Secure Social Networks You Could Switch To

With all the negative firestorm generated by this move, Facebook should seriously consider amending the policy. While I understand that they are trying to find a way to draw greater revenues from the information they have, if you lose a significant portion of your user base - especially your "heaviest users" - that is never a good idea. Let Google be Google, and your company should find its own path!
