INSTANT MBA: People Who Make An Impact Are Like Thomas Edison, Not Nikola Tesla

Today's advice comes from Google's founder and CEO Larry Page:

"If you look at the people who have high impact, they have pretty general knowledge. They don't have a really narrowly focused education."

"You also need some leadership skills. You don't want to be [Nikola] Tesla.

He was one of the greatest inventors, but it's a sad, sad story. He couldn't commercialize anything, and he could barely fund his own research.

You'd want to be more like Edison. If you invent something, that doesn't necessarily help anybody. You've got to actually get it into the world; you've got to produce, make money doing it so you can fund it."

Founder and CEO of Google
