From Alyssa Gregory, your Guide to Small Business Information

This past weekend, I enjoyed a full day without access to my computer, and enjoyed it immensely. It was a great time to recharge and relax while spending time with family.

I hope you enjoyed some downtime over the long holiday weekend, too. If you're not convinced that taking time off is important, read the first article on the importance of downtime (then schedule a break!).

This issue also highlights three small business contests worth entering (hurry -- two are ending this month!), resources for cutting costs in your business, and an introduction to a new social media management tool, YourBuzz.

Enjoy!
Alyssa

The Importance of Downtime
How many days off have you had since January? If you're a passionate, driven and busy small business owner who voted "Yes" or "Sometimes" on this weekend-working poll, I would guess not too many. But downtime is vital for small business owners. Learn to relax.

Three Small Business Contests Worth Entering
Contests are a great way to get your business on the map. Even if you don't win the prize, you are getting your brand out there and opening yourself up to the opportunity to network with other small business owners. Here are three small business contests going on right now. Enter to win.

5 Low-Cost Small Business Resources
The economy may be picking up, but many small business owners are still looking for ways to cut costs. This list of articles explores some of the ways you can introduce low-cost alternatives and ideas into your small business so you can reduce expenses while becoming more efficient, and hopefully, more successful. Save more.
