AAPL Up With The Tides
Stocks are on the rise after a 3-day decline as investors are encouraged that Germany will uphold the Greek bailout and on the heels of major changes at Bank of America and Yahoo. Shares of AAPL are up, albeit less than the rest of technology. Catalysts include the next iPhone launch this fall; the iPad 3 in the spring of 2012; continued adoption in China and other emerging markets; iCloud / iOS 5 rollout and adoption; the continued evolution and next generation of Apple TV; and new platforms such as mobile advertising (iAd), books / publishing and social (Ping). Shares of Apple trade at 9.5x Enterprise Value / Trailing Twelve Months Free Cash Flow (including long-term marketable securities).

Why Amazon's Tablet Should Have Apple Worried (TIME Techland)
Amazon's new tablet will possess "deep Amazon services integration" supplemented by an ingenious plan to give customers a free subscription to Amazon Prime. And there's where Apple should raise an eyebrow: Prime is Amazon's members-only club that requires an annual fee in exchange for free two-day shipping. It makes buying things, especially when paired with one-click shopping, dangerously, stupidly easy. Amazon's WiFi-equipped tablet? It'll basically be a 7-inch take-anywhere, buy-anything machine. iPhone Estimates Cut By 10%, 86 Million iPhone Units Now Estimated In 2011 (DigiTimes)
According to DigiTimes, Apple is projected to lead all smartphone shipments at the conclusion of 2011 with 86.4 million units, an 82% increase from 47.5 million units in 2010. The company previously estimated that iPhone shipments would reach 95 million units this year. None the less, that still crushes former market leader Nokia whose smartphone shipments in 2011 will decline 25% to 74.4 million units from over 100 million in 2010. Global smartphone shipments for this year are expected to reach 462 million units. Read »

iPhone Continues To Be Top Selling Phone On AT&T And Verizon (AppleInsider)
Analyst T. Michael Walkley with Canaccord Genuity revealed that checks with U.S. carriers indicate that sales of the iPhone 4 remain on top, despite the fact that the iPhone 4 is more than a year old and ahead of the iPhone 5 debut. During the holiday season he anticipates "strong sales of the iPhone 5" with a strong global launch and "increased distribution to new carriers including Sprint in the U.S. market." The $50 entry-level iPhone 3GS was the second strongest selling handset at AT&T (not offered on Verizon). Read »

Sprint Alludes To Getting The iPhone In Lawsuit Filing (This Is My Next)
Sprint is suing to stop the AT&T / T-Mobile merger. But there's an interesting tidbit from Sprint’s lawsuit. The company says Apple “gave Verizon a time-to-market advantage for the iPhone,” and that “Sprint has had to compete without access to the iPhone for nearly five years.” Intriguing wording, considering rumors of the Sprint iPhone. Verizon obviously got the iPhone years after AT&T, and any “time-to-market advantage” would only be an advantage if other carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile were set to get the device later on.
