EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced on Tuesday that world powers, including the US and Germany, are ready to resume talks with Iran on its nuclear program, more than a year after previous talks failed.

Five hackers from Anonymous spin-off LulzSec have been arrested and charged in court papers unsealed in New York on Tuesday. It comes after the ringleader, known as Sabu, pleaded guilty and turned on his comrades.

Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney could effectively seal his party's candidacy with a strong showing against his rivals on Tuesday, as 10 US states decide on their preferred candidates for the White House.

The Afar Revolutionary Democratic Unit Front (ARDUF) said on Tuesday it had freed two German hostages, but Germany's Foreign Ministry has not yet confirmed the release.

German solar firm Q-Cells reported heavy losses for 2011, hit by falling panel prices. Bad news also came from solar equipment maker Centrotherm which needs to shed a quarter of its workforce to survive.

Prosecutors in the south-western city of Stuttgart have charged three members of carmaker Porsche's finance team with credit fraud, alleging they gave false information about options held on VW during a takeover attempt.
