The Cynical Girl: Gender, Hookers and The Secret Service |
Gender, Hookers and The Secret Service Posted: 24 Apr 2012 03:45 AM PDT I caught yesterday’s White House briefing where Jay Carney was asked, “The Secret Service is only 11% female. Do you think this scandal would have happened if there were more women in the agency?” I can see why people hate the media. Then I watched Carolyn Maloney say the same thing on Hardball. She’s a fan of diversity for the value of diversity but she also believes that having more women around would have stopped these Secret Service agents from getting hookers. Let’s play a game where we swamp women with other special interest groups.
Irresponsible people are irresponsible. And women do not improve the chances that men will behave at work. Yes, there’s a good chance that had more robot-monkeys or female heterosexual women been part of the advance team, this scandal wouldn’t have happened. This is because there is no legalized sex trade for robot-monkeys. And it’s tough to find a good heterosexual male escort in Columbia. Ugh. It goes without saying that women deserve equal treatment in the workforce. We deserve equal opportunity to serve our country, too. The number of women in the Secret Service is abysmal; however, more women won’t fix the agency. Better leadership will fix it. And the worst thing that could happen is the aftermath of this scandal is that more chicks are hired to placate a few screeching voices. (And those screeching voices sound a lot like Darrel Issa and Joe Lieberman.) Women don’t exist in the workforce to make sure everyone behaves better. Manage yourselves, people. You are responsible for your choices and decisions. Ugh x2. How about we just ask our leaders and employees to be responsible and accountable for their behaviors? Crazy, I know. And then let’s fire them — quickly — when serious violations occur. Then let’s hire more women. And gays. And Jews. And Muslims. And robot-monkeys. |
