FILM
Welcome to Culture Beast
Welcome to the new and improved Yes List, now called Culture Beast! Each Friday, we’ll deliver five recommendations for the weekend—and beyond. This week: films to see over the Memorial Day weekend, unseen Cindy Sherman and more!

  • SKIP: ‘Men in Black 3,’ the sequel that no one wanted.
  • SEE: ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.’ Judi Dench and Maggie Smith don’t disappoint.

In response to Never-Before-Seen Cindy Sherman:

A great deal of art that comes out of academia can be characterized as esoteric nonsense. There are just a select few that can actually earn a living making art. Cindy appears to be one.
