Cheat Sheet - The Strangest NRA Story Yet

Today: Dozens Questioned in Istanbul Murder , Confirmed: Skeleton Is Richard III , Ravens Pull Out Narrow Win
Cheat Sheet: Morning

UM, WHAT?

The fact that the NRA was keeping a list of its foes isn't all that bizarre. But the list itself is positively loony—yet more evidence of just how nuts the NRA is, says The Daily Beast's Michael Tomasky.

INVESTIGATION

Turkish police have questioned at least two dozen people in the murder of a Staten Island woman in Istanbul but had not yet made any arrests by Monday morning. Sarai Sierra, 33, had been on the last day of her trip to Istanbul—her first trip overseas—when she disappeared. She was found over the weekend about three and a half miles from where she went missing. Istanbul's police chief Huseyin Capkin dismissed claims that Sierra had been acting as a foreign agent, insisting "she was a tourist, walking around by herself." So far, it's clear only that she communicated with one person upon her arrival, a man Turkish police identified only by his first name, Taylan—and Sierra was in touch with him on the day she died.

MY KINGDOM FOR A HORSE

One of history's biggest mysteries may be solved—now is it time for Americans to catch up and find Jimmy Hoffa? Archeologists in Britain said on Monday that they believe "beyond reasonable doubt" that an ancient skeleton found under a parking lot in Leicester belonged to King Richard III, who was killed in battle 500 years ago. DNA tests on the skull proved it belonged to the tyrannical king—and they said there was evidence the king had been tied down where he was buried. Around 10 wounds were found on the skeleton, including eight to the skull, and an arrowhead was found embedded in the spine. The remains were found under a city council parking lot—in a dig that archeologists recently described as a "long shot."

Super Bowl XLVII

A power surge that killed the lights at the Superdome in New Orleans just moments into the second half of Super Bowl XLVII seemed to turn around the fortunes of the San Francisco 49ers, who proceeded to score 17 points in a four-minute period. Knocked on their heels, the Baltimore Ravens could only manage a pair of field goals as 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick set a Super Bowl record with a 15-yard touchdown. But Baltimore was in luck: the 49ers hit a snag in the fourth quarter when they were unable to score despite driving to the Baltimore 5-yard line. The Ravens were able to hold them off and run out the clock to win 34–31.
