VENOMOUS
Police hunted down the prostitute accused of watching a Google exec overdose and found a trail of dead, damaged men in her past. "Holy smoke, this isn't her first rodeo," Santa Cruz Deputy Chief Steve Clark thought when he discovered the overdose death of Alix Tichelman's previous boyfriend. Michael Daly reports on the clues police traced to find a suspected double-murderess.
SPIES AMONG THEM

Only half of Iraq's security forces are capable of actually fighting back against the insurgence of militants in the country, according to a secret American report. The findings describe units that have been heavily infiltrated either by informants of the invading Sunni militias or Shiite groups that were trained in Iran and had previously fought against American troops in Iraq. This could pose great danger to hundreds of American advisers sent to Iraq, although not supplying assistance could be even more risky in the long run, according to the report. The report will be sent to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel this week.

WINNER GOES HOME
From Alexander Hamilton to Elon Musk, new arrivals toughened by circumstance and self-selected for pluck have given the United States the energy to make us great. So why educate immigrants in the best universities and then force them to leave? Jonathan Alter writes about the must-watch documentary Underwater Dreams, in which undocumented Mexican teens beat MIT in a robotics competition and are punished by savage laws.
ID CHECK

Samsung suspended business with a supplier in China after a watchdog group found child labor was being used in its factories. China Labor Watch issued a report last week noting "at least five child workers" and calling Samsung's auditing process "ineffective." After what the electronics giant said was the fourth investigation into the South Korean subsidiary, it discovered suspected child labor and halted business. Samsung pledged to sever all ties if the claims were found to be true. The company has gotten in trouble before—in 2012, China Labor Watch said seven child workers were being used by suppliers in the country.

SOLDIERING ON

After five years in captivity and six weeks of freedom, Bowe Bergdahl is set to resume life as an Army soldier this week. As part of his reintegration, the former Taliban prisoner is switching from the therapy phase to taking on the job duties of a regular soldier, living in the barracks at Texas' Fort Sam Houston, and interacting with other soldiers. He'll also soon be meeting with Major General Kenneth Dahl, who is investigating the circumstances of his disappearance in 2009.
