SHAME

Gunman on Campus

Three students were shot in a library on the campus of Florida State University early Thursday by a gunman who was killed by campus police after he failed to comply with an order to drop his weapon and instead turned his gun toward officers. One victim reportedly was in critical condition. FSUNews.com said the shooting occurred at around 12:30 a.m. local time Thursday on the first floor of the Strozier Library, a multistory building at the center of the campus. The site reported that at least four gunshots were heard and approximately 30 police officers responded to the scene. According to police, about 300 to 400 students were in the library at the time of the shooting. A nursing supervisor at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare told the Associated Press the hospital was treating two people for gunshot wounds early Thursday. The supervisor did not disclose the patients' conditions or whether they were students. The police said Thursday morning at a press conference there is no longer a safety threat on campus. The school will remain open, but the library will be closed.
