The More CEOs Make, The Worse They Treat Workers, Says A New Study

Read the Article at HuffingtonPost

And why are we surprised? After all, we've worked for two decades under the "Gordon Gekko Doctrine" - see:

It is an interesting idea, and I have little doubt it is correct. I think one issue is that most people who move up in management had to deal with lots of employees who were trying to make themselves 'look good' by asking questions and making comments designed solely to make them look good to the boss. Eventually the boss gets tired of it and starts getting mean so people don't ask questions. (I do know someone who is exactly that way for that reason!)

As for the 'study', the description of it doesn't fill me with any confidence in the results. I have trouble believing that an 'assigned management level' without having the REAL money or REAL power in a class project would truly be representative of reality. I suspect they were looking for a specific result, and managed to find it in the data.

And now there is a Part 2 coming out shortly. Can't wait to see what that's about.

It is an interesting idea regarding greed. I would think back in the older day’s greed was not really considered greed in a sense but maybe just an ambitious person looking for his/break in life. I do not think just because you have money means that you’re greedy. However, if you have been blessed with money you should help others not necessarily with money but with your insight. It could help a young person.

This is great, talking about greed and it is true. People are extremely greedy. And I cant wait to see Wall Street 2.

This is no surprise to anyone; at least I hope it isn’t. The problem is the society based in America. Money equals power, which turns people in to Greedy little Monsters.

I think the reason that low income mangers are less likely to fire employees is because they have more compassion for their workers. This article kind of ticks me off, because everyone cannot start at the top. There have to be workers and I believe they should be treated fairly by all managers whether they are low income managers or high income managers. Someone has to be doing all jobs for an organization to functions and it takes all kinds of people being treated fairly to make that happen.

This really should be no surprise. CEOs are too high in a company to deal with the workers. It is a shame, but its true. A great CEO would interact with the workers and get to be personal with them.

I agree totally. Those that make more money tend to see themselves better than others, as they distance themselves in pay from the others, this attitude begins to show. Power corrupts and money gives status. Its all very sad.

People who make more money are definitely greedy. I have an uncle who used to be so humble and sweet until he started making money. Now he is so rude, cocky, and thinks he is on top of the world. The way I see it: money doesn't buy happiness!

WHAT, Greed is good! Greed is nice, but it is not good. I do think that SOME CEO’s do treat their worker harsh, not all of them do. Because some of them realize at the end of it all, they need someone to work for them. I do agree that greed for determination of life is necessary. All because you have to have a strong passion for what you want to achieve in life and you have to stay focus and determinant to get there. O.k I will say this greed is good for some things, not all, MONEY. Sometimes greed can lead to death. Just be thankful that you have a life to live. And if you do that you will be happy without greed of money.

I would not go as far to say all CEOs treat their employees worse the more they make. In some cases yes it is true but in others it can be the complete opposite such as GOOGLE. They treat their employees like kings every last one of them.

I do not think that all people that make more money than others treat people lower than them badly, but I do think that CEOs could treat their employees better than they do. They are always sure to take care of themselves first and not worry about the people below them. I do know this one guy that owns his own business and although it is small he treats all of his employees with respect and truly takes care of them... and they LOVE their jobs!

I guess the CEO's see the workers as the "common folks" and believe thats how they should be treated. They dont care about the people underneath them because they know they will always see the fruit of the workers labor. I guess its true that money cant buy you happiness.

There is an old saying that on the corporate pyramid, bad stuff goes down and money goes up. If you do not agree with that, then I would suggest watching this video.

I'm on the fence. I'm tired of hearing about CEO's of large organizations getting millions in bonus and exit payments. Truth is, i don't care. Many of them built these large organizations, devoted their life to the cause and made a lot of money for others along the way. Not to mention paid their employees’ salaries and benefits. The WSJ once wrote on how much money several local CEO's spent traveling on the corporate jet. Why? I have no idea. It's their jet, the build and bought the damn thing. I deserve the money i earn, not some of theirs to.

This a topic that hits close to home. I work for home depot and a couple of years back they hired a CEO and he was all about money. He could care less about the workers, all he was concerned about was profits so that the stock can go up

I really don’t think this isn’t something that most of us do not know already. Money seems to do some horrible things to people. Money makes people very greedy. Money makes some people think that they are better than everyone else. I can’t wait to see the second part.

As The Notorious B.I.G would say "mo' money, mo' problems."

I don't agree with this video at certain points. Some times greed do get a little big in some people to want more but that's when problems occur or something goes wrong. I don't think it will bring together people. It will only hurt and destory just to satisfied the need of greed.
