I think the most helpful advice was to take the time to job hunt. I think it should be more than that, especially if you don't have a job. In that case, job hunting should be a full-time deal. Monday thru Friday 9-5 until all your resources are exhausted. Too often people are too relaxed about job hunting. It's competitive, don't be a push over.

These are great tips for job searching! I will be graduating in May and need all the tips I can get. The resume is the only thing that I worry about. I wish there were tips for new graduates who don't have a lengthy resume.

KalliRenayWilde said...

I am also graduating in May and every piece of advice helps because of the condition that the job market is in right now. I also have the same resume problem, and yes more tips about resumes would also be helpful!

This was extremely good information for job hunting. I know i will be doing this when i start my job search!

Very helpful article. This is one that I will have to refer back to when it is time to job hunt. It is a scary process in life, so we are always looking for steps to take and advice for job searching.

Brenda Brown said...

I am also graduating in May and every piece of advice helps. I agree with Chad, if you do not have a job; you should be job hunting full-time.

Amberlynn Brady said...

Job-hunting is definitely a job in itself. It takes time to look for a job. It can be very frustrating, but it is something that needs to be done in order to find what you really want.

Cody W. said...

Job hunting is hard in any case, but it is especially difficult for new graduates. These were some great tips, but it would be awesome to see some advice on how to land a job when all you have is a degree in a field and no experience.

Jess said...

Job hunting is the most aggravating thing to me. I absolutely hate it for some reason but obviously it must be done. Thankfully, when I graduate in December my options will broaden tremendously because looking for a job that works around school hours and is worthwhile is hard to find.

Alexandra said...

This is a very helpful article because I am graduating in May. Job hunting can be a stressful process if you're not aware of the right research tools to use when searching for a job.

Jonathan McDonald said...

This article and others like it should not just be articles online, they should be and entire course or atleast semenar that graduating seniors are required to attend. One of the biggest complaints that recruiters have is that students right out of college are not prepared for the interview. If we would know what to expect then we would do so much better.

Seth Bourgeois said...

I am graduating in May and all the advice I can get is very helpful. Job searching can be very stressful. This is necessary though because you do not want to settle for a crappy job when there may be a good one out there that you could have got.

SIRBIGGSTIXX said...

I really look forward to using these tips on finding a job in the future. I will be graduating next semester, so the day is soon here that I start the real world. Any tips that someone can give me on how to score a job is a help. But I agree with the person on the resume tips, a resume is difficult to perfect.

Unknown said...

Job hunting can be a tough time for someone. These skills will be very helpful. People need to feel confident when they are interviewing for a job and searching for one. If you follow these rules you should be successful.

Blake Phillips said...

I am looking forward to using these tips after the spring semester. Hopefully it will be easier to find a job after school than it is finding one one that works around my school schedule.

Sharon said...

These are some great tips. The "Be ready to move" tip is one that I tend to stay away from, but I noticed that if I broaden my search with more locations, I get more results.

Kelly Guerin said...

I've never had to actually go job-hunting before but these are all great tips. I like the one that says be ready to move. I think it makes it more difficult if you're only searching in one area, especially where we live. There are so many places out there to live, and people shouldn't be stuck on their hometown or even home state.

Anonymous said...

All good tips.. I think that you should also take your time in the job hunt and not settle for the first thing you come across. My sister did this right out of college and hated every aspect of her job.

inolongerlive220 said...

I think thees articles are all for me. lol. Reading these articles i see there is a lot more to finding a job then filling out a application. It's hard work and it takes diligence to get the job you want.

I think the most helpful of those advice tips was to know thyself and what makes you happy. I also liked the part about getting plugged in where you find that you fit in best.

I think this is a really helpful article. I'm graduating in December, and can use all the help I can get. I think the best tip would be to devote time to job searching. It can be very stressful looking for a job. I think people begin to feel overwhelmed and just stop for awhile, and they should not.

Nicole Faggard said...

These are very good tips and very true. You can possible have any job or lifestyle out there that you desire, you just have to put your mind to it. The main thing is to be proactive and positive. Everyone out there is just another person and you can be just as good if not better than another.

Unknown said...

People must get resumes finished. I know tons of seniors that don't have one started! Unbelievable!

Candace Hampton said...

These are some really great tips that could be useful to anyone. I am constantly working on my resume, changing dates and adding new things.

Schorle said...

those tips are very true and very helpful, but anybody can have anything that they want all they have to do is just go do it. THE WORLD IS YOUR FINGER TIPS JUST GRAB IT.

AHickman said...

All very helpful hints. I think one they might have left off was to not only know yourself, but know the company you are interviewing with. How ignorant to express interest in a company you know nothing about!

Unknown said...

Good tips on how to jump out there and hit the ground running. I feel that especially within my friends a lot of them are held back based on where they want to live, sometimes you have to leave your hometown.

pdsmith said...

I agree with this list of things to do in regards to looking for a new job. Joining in and getting connected is the best piece of advice that the author gives to his readers. Most jobs are found and gotten through networking. Trade organizations are a good place to start and social networking sites can lead to opportunities as well.

sarah said...

Great tips for job searching! I need lots of help finding a job when I graduate in December! It's very overwhelming thinking about finding a real job.

Ashley Michel said...

This was really interesting article and I will defiantly keep all of this in mind when I start my search for a job. I have already started searching and applied for a few jobs and I can defiantly say it is very overwhelming and scary since all I know is school, but I will look back at this and let this article guide me some.

Carmen M. Orellana said...

This article is going to help alot with my job search. It make me nervous to think in getting a real job. This article will definetely help and guide to get the best job.

Lord Elliott said...

Sounds like some good tips, but I think, depending on who you are talking to, the tip about not being afraid to brag about yourself could backfire. Some people like it if you do that but others will just think you're pompous. The same goes for resumes. Some people like simple, humble resumes while others prefer the opposite. It all depends on the culture at the business to which you are applying and the attitudes of the individuals who make the hiring decision.

Unknown said...

The article is helpful, i like the idea of focusing where it will make you feel happy, I think being happy is a key factor which determine your no only work performance but how many years you can live in the Earth, remember every minute you are happy increase your life by a minute.

Unknown said...

Job hunting can be a stressful thing so these tips to help make it easier and prepare you a little better. It is something that needs to be taken seriously when you are looking especially in today's economy.

I'm pretty sure i've read this before because my dad always sends me these articles. But yes, these are great tips and I think 'be ready to move' is a tip that some people want to ignore but could also open many doors if you're flexible on where you can work.

Anonymous said...

Job hunting can be very fustrating for people that have been searching for a long period of time and are unsuccessful. The tips given are very helpful and should be used when looking for employment.

inolongerlive220 said...

I think this article confirms not always picking the first job that is available. Taking some time to way out other options is necessarily not a bad thing maybe a good thing at the end of the job hunting search.

Unknown said...

In today’s society, job searching is very stressful. I definitely think these tips on job searching will help me in the near future so I will not be so hard on myself.

Unknown said...

I was lucky enough to have a good business writing professor that taught us these tips. It was good to have them reiterated.

Unknown said...

I am glad I already have a job. If I am ever on the hunt again, I will remember these tips.

All of these tips are very important and useful in our current job market. I’ll be sure to print these out so I’ll be ready and prepared for my job search.

This article is very helpful and I will definitely have to look back at it when the time comes for it. These are some great tips

Unknown said...

These are great tips for job hunting. Really, if you do not have a job, from the time you wake up and get your coffee till it gets dark outside, you should be searching for a job and following up on places you put in for a job to show people you are persistant.

Unknown said...

Great tips that I will remember for when I will be looking for a job. It is a stressful time as it is, and the economy does not make it better either.

Spencer said...

Good advise whenever your looking for a job. everyone can benefit from useful tips when it comes to job hunting.

Unknown said...

Great topic. This is something that anyone can relate to, and when this economy we have right now this tips will go a long way.

christopher.raleigh said...

I agree with most of this list. I recently was searching for a new job and all of these practices make it easier to land the job you really want. I know for me the hardest one to deal with is the be willing to move.

Unknown said...

Great article on sore subject for some. It's really hard to get a job these days and this article gives some pointers on how to really make yourself stand out.

Unknown said...

Being prepared to move it a major plus for me, because I am so sick of the senseless crime in South Louisiana. It is also key to just get started and take initiative. Nobody will simply hand a job to you.

matthew.lancie said...

This is a great article to read if you are about to go job hunting in the real world. I know these tips will help me out when I have to find a job when I graduate.

Chamekia Jefferson said...

The advice given was great. It is very difficult to find a job that pays. I do think that job seekers should do more investigations on companies before accepting job so quickly. I have come across several jobs that advertise high pay and once you get the job they often time pay less or the environment is horrible. I think looking for a job is a fulltime job in itself.

Gerardo said...

I think this a good ten tips to read whenever you are going to be interviewed. It will help a lot in any way..

Kimberly said...

These are some good tips when it comes to job searching. I will most likely be using them in the next few months as a prepare for job searching.

Unknown said...

This is great advice; everyone looking for a job should have access to this information.

Aaron said...

Very useful information, even though I'm already starting to get established into building a career with a company. Will be valuable to build and learn upon.

Vernon Blackledge Jr said...

I am sure the massive amount of interview, resume and job advice business students are hit with will one day pay off. But for now I have to say it is getting beyond annoying, and the most irritating thing is that it is usually the same advice, over and over again.

Avalon said...

I thought the part about selling yourself was great advice. I have a hard time with that and it something that I will very much need to work on.

Miranda Manuel said...

I completely agree with the "sell yourself" part. That is practically all you are doing in an interview, or even in just meeting someone for the first time.

Donald said...

I think these tips are essential, because I am currently between jobs and will be looking for a career job soon. I think it is important for me to sell myself and this information did a good job showing me how.

Flaciura said...

I think these were excellent top ten's. Most of them are something to take into serious consideration. Some are one's that I hadn't thought about before.

Flaciura said...

I know that times are changing but I am a little old fashioned. If I ran a company, I think I would be more prone to hire someone that took the initiative to come in and hand deliver their resume rather than submit it from their couch. But that's just me.

Peter_is_a_Star said...

This is a great article for the big change in how employment is actually being handled today. It's a little more challenging but in the end, it should be worth it!

Unknown said...

Wow these are all great tips in helping prepare one self for those interviews in may! This is deff a page I would like to review some more. One thing I would like to add that I didn't see focused on as much, is to do mock-interviews. If you have any family friend or relative of your parents that is in a managerial role that is somewhat current to your field, ask to sit down with them. A mock-interview lets you and the practice interviewee evaluate you, provide feedback and help you prepare more for the real deal. Using these tasks, along with this should deff fully prepare yourself for such.

Unknown said...

The hardest thing for me to do when it comes to job hunting is to get out of my comfort zone. I have worked at the same place for 7 years and I always say how much I hate it, but when I look for a job, I always look for about the same thing, because it is the only thing I am comfortable with.

Daniel Berthelot said...

These are some really good tips for job searching. This was a really good post.

Mario Barahona said...

Very good post. Especially today when people are without jobs and looking vigorously for them. It is always good to have those extra tips to help you succeed.

Unknown said...

These are really great tips for job hunting. I graduate this December and really the only thing I am worried about is my resume.

Ted said...

Awesome tips. I'm going to have to look for a job soon, because where I'm interning at, they have a hiring freeze.

Raymond Tucker said...

Job Hunting is one of the most hardest things to accomplish. Sometimes what you know cant get you far, but who you know can.

Vy said...

job hunting can be strenuous and exhaustive at times. However , these tips are very good and i will apply them when i'm out on the field.

Gabriel Ordoyne said...

I think a great tip on Job Hunting is to be the epitomy of the word persistent. Think of it like fishing or crabbing in the sense that the more traps you set up in the water, the more you're gonna catch and the better picks you'll have.

Ms. Brittany said...

This article was interesting in that it didnt give the usual tips on job searching. The one that I could realte most to was "stepping out of your comfort zone." In school we are rewarded for good work and behavior. Which ultimately leads to other perks, but in the real world we have to promote ourselves and network with others. This is a big challenge for me. I'm uneasy about meeting new people, and this can hinder my professional career. Its a working progress, but I'm sure that I can get through it.

Heather Cosentino said...

Like every other graduating senior I am looking for a job. This article is very informative and helpful to me and every other student, especially because of the economy in the current condition it is in.

Unknown said...

This article makes many valid points. One point I find interesting is to "sell yourself." Employers look for confidence and you must present yourself in a way of charm and swagger. The prospective employee must believe he or she can bring influential performance and influence to the table if hired. A person who strongly believes in himself will go far in the corportate world. A prospect employee must also know themselves. Locate your weaknesses and find proactive ways to fix them. Also, form realistic expectations when setting objectives. Go for the gold.

Unknown said...

This was a very good and helpful article about tips for job hunting. I am graduating in May and I am definitely not looking forward to job hunting. Job hunting seems like a job that you don’t get paid for. This article gives you some good advice about the process. I can use all the help anyone wants to give me.

kady said...

This article is very helpful. These ten tips are great and this really is what you have to do these days to get a job. I graduate in December and I think these tips will be a great help while I'm trying to find a new job.

drew.oster said...

The article "10 Job Search Tips for 2010" was very informative and I learned a lot about seaching for a job. I've always heard that if you are available to move your more likely to get a job and it was confirmed in this article. I also learned to focus on my resume and try to make it sizzle.

Anonymous said...

This was very informative and helpful. I am the worst when it comes to talking about myself in interviews. But I guess I need to get over it as the article suggests.

Unknown said...

I think that this article makes some very good points. My favorite point is "know thyself". Knowing your own goals and objectives is very important when looking for a job. You need to find something that is going to make you happy and find something that is going to realistically fit into your life. For example if you are a mother to six small children you probably aren't going to be looking for a job as a flight attendant or international business person who travels all of the time.

Unknown said...

This tips are very relivant to most of us because most of us are about to graduate and start applying for jobs. I think all of these tips are very helpful and can really help land a job that you didn't think you could possibly have. My favorite tips they talk about is probably the narrow your thinking title because it is something i probably would not have thought of, but is something that makes a lot of sense.

Anonymous said...

You never can get too much advice when you are looking for a job. Your career is going to be one of the most important things in your life. These top ten tips can be very helpful in this regard.

Linh said...

This is good article; It is very helpful advice to take when it's time to hunt for job. Job hunting is a full-time deal and aggressive. It's very competitive. This is something that anyone should keep in mind especially with this economy this tips will help a great deal.

Keronida Myles said...

In the pursuit to find a job I believe that it would be beneficial to recognize some of the points located in this article. Something that stuck out to me were the fact that you must "sell yourself." Sometimes I fall short of this because I really do not like to speak about myself offend. The other thing was "narrowing your thinking" from the business meeting that I have been to it is essential that interview know what they would like to do and where they would like to work. Good article!

Jewel said...

I am beginning to get nervous when I think about finding a job after college. This information has helped to ease my nerves just a little bit. I like the advice on continuing to always keep your options open. Even though you have a job now, always look to advance your career and skills.

Brenda Brown said...

This is some really good advice. Making sure that your résumé is perfect is an important factor. This is the presentation your future boss is getting of you, and it is always best to be flawless. No one should ever stay at a job where the business is not happening. If you can sense your company crashing then you should start a career search with self-assessment.

Melissa said...

I thought this was a helpful article. One of the major tips is to step out of your comfort zone. I have a very hard time with this, but I know how important it is to be able to just take a chance and do something out of the ordinary. I have taken many classes and the one thing everyone can agree on is that networking is the best way to find a job. Never underestimate who you know. So one place I could improve on is being more outgoing and talk to people.

Kellie Williams said...

Very useful advice. It is important to step out of your comfort zone and ask others for help if you need it. Also, focusing on your resume is very important as it serves as a guide for your future employer to learn about you.

Unknown said...

I agree that u really have to dive into job hunting. U can't half ass it. Jobs are very competitive. You have to be a lion out there.I think job hunting should be a full-time deal. Monday thru Friday 9-5.  U can never give up. I wish they would have talked about ways to help me with my resume.

ChrisSaintsedo said...

I have read this article before and its always nice to have little tid bits like this before going on a job search. The moving thing is huge. Traveling with just you is one thing but bringing a family, especially if you have children is really something to look into. I really liked how they mentioned that even though you know the economy is bad that you can't just deal with the crap forever, sometimes you need to reevaluate things. Time to me is the most important thing they mentioned. You get what you give and if you only devote a small amount of time to searching you will not turn up with enough.

StevieG said...

I typically don't have a problem with going on job interviews, though I must confess that I have a hard time gauging whether the employer is interested in me just from the interview.
I went on a job interview about three weeks ago and nailed the interview (or so I thought) only to never have the interviewer never call me back. I went on a second interview with a different employer one week later and I felt that I wasn't going to be hired, only to receive a call a week later informing me that I had received the job. At the least, you would think that the first interviewer would have had the courtesy to call me back.

I found the article to be fresh and informative, expertly combining technical elements such as preparing the resume with internal factors (gauging the stability of the company) with external factors (change of geography, narrowing market, etc.). In this sense it went beyond the typical self assessment/resume crafting tips and explored the “why” as well as the “how” when considering to make the potential leap to another job.

Lindsay said...

The article "10 Job Search Tips for 2010" is extremely helpful and informative. I like the "know thyself" part because if you know who you are as a person then you will know what career path to take. The "sell yourself" part would be really hard for me. I do not like talking about shining moments or how wonderful I am, it even feels funny typing that. I guess after reading this article I need to work on my self confidence. This was a great article and I saved it to my favorites for future reference.

Nyoki said...

I really enjoyed this video and found it very informative. I think the one part that I liked the most was the part when they discussed selling yourself. You have to make sure you make yourself as presentable as possible. With that you have to have the confidence to make sure that you are the person they want to hire and trust with all of the work they want to give you. I think if everyone were to think of an interview as selling yourself it would make the process a lot easier.

Tosha_Daniels said...

I think these were some very informative tips. I agreed most with the part about taking time to job hunt, and selling yourself. I think its very important to take the time to find exactly want you are looking for so you can be happy in your career. Dont just apply for anything because you need a job, no go for what you think will make you most happy so you wont have to worry about quitting or getting fired and landing yourself back at square one. People who are satisfied with their job are less stressed. When applying for a job make sure you give it your all. Sell your self like a brand and influence the company that if they higher you they are making a great choice.

April said...

I'm unemplyed. I left my position to focus on graduating this semester. My emplyer would not let me take the 18 hours of school that I needed in order to graduate so I weighed my option and left. And to be honest, other than not having income coming in, I'm quite happy with it. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my professional life. I'm deciding if I want to continue my career in Louisiana or venture out of state. I'm getting to know me and updating my resume in the process. Hopefully, this all works out! Wish me luck!

Joel said...

This article had some good tips on job hunting. I agree with all of them, but not all of them I will be comfortable doing. That actually leads into the tip of stepping out of your comfort zone. I find that I have no problem selling myself, seeing as though a good portion of that is fluff, but I am set in my roots for the time being and do not see myself moving outside of the state. For me to move out of the state it would have to be a set in stone deal that had ample benefits and rewards to offset my overall feeling of moving. I have been job searching for quite some time and have gotten bites from prospective employers, none of which I wish to work for. I do think that once I have graduated job hunting will be more revealing, but out of all the tips, I think the biggest is that you have to make yourself stand out and the best way, I feel, to stand out is to obtain a higher education, above a bachelor's degree.

camirenee said...

I like this video. Many of us are going to graduate soon and will be searching for jobs. Some of these suggestions are things I know I would not do, but I do not think they are necessarily wrong. I think making yourself stand apart from the crowd it the best advice one can give on job searching.

Toni Bonura said...

Most of these job searching tips are extremely easier said than done. I don't think any job could convince me to move out of Louisiana. Let alone, move out of my current city. No matter how great of an opportunity, I don't ever seeing myself re-locating for a job. It's also hard for people to step out of their comfort zones. As a staff auditor, I'm faced with a new challenge everyday; as opposed to accounting courses, when I was at least prepared for the exam covering a certain amount of information. Not knowing what new project I will work on in the next couple of weeks is frustrating and creates anxiety since I can't jump ahead of myself.

megan said...

These tips are very helpful and I'm sure I and others will benefit from them in the near future. I know from experience that these tips are great to know and apply. They can help graduates to be more prepared when they start looking and interviewing for jobs. It's nice to know what to expect. One of the best tips is the one that basically says to know what you want and know yourself because if you don't know, you won't be able to market yourself to a potential employer on your job search very well.

Anonymous said...

I've never had to actually go job-hunting before but these are all great tips. I like the one that says be ready to move. I think it makes it more difficult if you're only searching in one area due to the amount of people in your community. i think there are a lot of jobs out there you just have to search for them.

Unknown said...

These are all really helpful tips! The one that stood out to me most was "don't ignore the elephant in the room." Its true many people get comfortable with their jobs during the economy changes and they stir away from looking for better opportunities.

JasonSibley said...

I think these ten tips to the job search in 2010 are great. I am looking for as many tips as I can get so that I can have a job upon graduation in May. It is very important that you have a resume up to date and ready to go. I also think that it is important to step out of your comfort zone so that you can explore new opportunities that you may like that you may not have thought about before. It is important to know what you want in your career. All interview and job search tips are very helpful especially when you are looking for a job to start your career.

Unknown said...

Great tips! Again, I say this is for college students as well as high school students. You should be prepared to move. A lot of times, jobs require employees to be mobile. And sometimes, you might have to move to find a job. I know when I graduate, I plan on moving to Houston to get a good job and continue my education. And another tip that said get started searching... very true! You have to go look for the employers and show them you're interested. They won't come looking for you.

Kevin Harper said...

Will help anyone in the job hunt to listen to this guy, he has some great points. I will definitely take his ideas into consideration during my job hunts

Ciji Rodrigue said...

These are all great tips to use when interviewing for jobs. When I was job hunting last fall some of these tips, like tailoring my resume and selling my good points, came into play and I got the job. Many graduating seniors will be on the job hunt this May and I think the best tip is to tailor your resume to each position. Also, know a good bit of information about the companies you interview with.

This article offers great insight into the tips that you need to become successful in your job search. As my fellow graduates and I get closer to graduation day we will be using these tips to better prepare ourselves for what is in our future.

Unknown said...

These are great tips for job searching. I am graduating in May and I could use every single piece of advice and tip that I can get. Job searching is something that takes a lot of time and effort in order to get the job that you want. It is also can be very scary considering the way the job market is right now.

Amy said...

I've been fortunate enough that I was able to start a good job while a senior in high school. And as I've gained more knowledge and information I have been able to move up within this company. One of the most important things when job hunting is to make sure you have a great resume. I'm constantly updating my resume with any new information that I think would be helpful when applying for a new job.

Kelly Guerin said...

This article had some great job search tips. I think it is very important to step out of your comfort zone because you have to do things most of the time that you're not used or comfortable doing. For example, giving a presentation to your boss and other employees. Even thought this may not be something you're comfortable with, everyone should be willing to do things like this to move up in your career.

Cole said...

I really like the tip about devoting time to job searching. One day I would like to be a high school teacher and coach. In coaching there is a underlying rule that they are always getting fired or looking for a new job. So you always have to be making contacts and coaching well against and opponents so you get your name and coaching style out there. I believe this works relatively the same in the business world. Not many people are completely in never getting a promotion, so they have to keep an eye out in the business world as well.

We are actually studying very similar information in my Human Resource class. This article has a lot of good information about searching for jobs and getting yourself ready to apply. I think the most important step is to "know yourself" because when you are searching for a job you want to make sure it is something you will be happy doing. As I stated in my presentation on driving forces, happiness is the most important because happier people perform their jobs much better.

The article “10 Job Search Tips for 2010” was extremely helpful to me because I am graduating in May. The tip that stuck out to me was the “devote your time to job searching” and “stepping out your comfort zone.” I am a procrastinator. I have not started job searching and this article made me realize that I have to begin now with graduation in the near future. Also, the stepping out of your comfort zone is hard for me to do. I find it hard to talk to new people and network. I must overcome my shyness.

This is a good article. Most of us are in a spot right now where we are thinking about, or looking for a job. These tips are good for us to see the kind of things that are important in an interview. I dont think it will be easy to follow all of these tips, but it is defnitely something we can practice on..

This was a pretty good article. It did have some useful information about job searching and not passing up a good opportunity. I think it is true that you always have to be on guard, and ready to make a move when a good opportunity comes your way. You always have to develop alternative plans, just in case the job you are at now doesn't go as planned. I think it is true that goals have to be realistic and achievable, and that the best way to sell yourself to an interviewer is to show your personality and confidence in your work.

The "10 Job Search Tips for 2010" article was very helpful and interesting. My favorite tip was " Setp out of your comfort zone". This is very true because a lot of people get stuck in their ways and do not know how to adapt/get used to new things and ask questions. Asking questions is a very good way to gain information and make u a lot more wise. You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Progress needs to be made everyday. We all have to use these tips to our benefit and make sure that we establish a good game plan that prepares us for our future.

This article has very good points. I think my weakness may be “sell yourself” and “narrow your thinking”. If I can only figure out exactly what it is the employer may be looking for. Networking is another but I’ve been working on that.

The main thing I think about when I hear people claim that they cannot find I job is where they are looking. Are they looking only close to home? To be successful you must be willing to move to where a job is. It is also important to know your self and to step out of your comfort zone when applying to jobs.

The best tip is to make sure all your resources are exhausted. I am guilty of trying a few different things, and then giving up if I don't get a call back. I have never gotten a job without knowing somebody. Therefore, I needed these tips in order to properly search for a job in the future.

Since, I will be graduating very shortly and need to find a job these tips for searching for a job will really come in handy. I've looked on the internet before and it is extremely hard and sometimes difficult. I enjoy the tips and advice on writing résumés as well. I was just talking about how I need to start one and wasn’t sure where to begin.

This was a very creative list of tips for job hunting. I had never thought of creating a video resume or making a webpage to show potential employers. How you act and are perceived in the interview is the most important part of the process, but getting to the interview is the hard part. Basic resume writing skills are necessary and not possessed by most people.

I have heard of most of these job search tips. However, I am not familiar with video resumes. It seems like a great idea though, if someone wants to stand out among other candidates. The video resume will give allow a face to go with a name, prior to an interview and it will more than likely be more memorable as well.

I think it should be more than that, especially if you don't have a job. In that case, job hunting should be a full-time deal. This is very true because a lot of people get stuck in their ways and do not know how to adapt/get used to new things and ask questions. Asking questions is a very good way to gain information and make u a lot more wise.

It's all about who you know #10 was the only helpful thing in this piece.... IT's all about networking and making sure that you know someone that can get u a job b/c 80% of ppl hired are b/c of someone they know that got them a job....

I think when someone is on the "hunt" for the perfect job it should relate to real hunting. knowing your prey (job opportunities) and understanding the best places for the type of work they want to do. By doing so when they go for the "kill" they will have the best shot and give themselves an edge on the competition.

I think this was a good article with some useful tips. I don't like the fact that you can google people and find out information about them. I think the past is the past and should stay that way.

In today's business world it is very true that it's not what you know but who you know. Alot of time people are hired with lesser qualifications than other candidates because they know people who work their or the owner. It's just the way the world is which is why it's good to make friends with people in high places!

Great advice. I know, one of the hardest parts of finding that perfect job is getting through to the right person and standing out from the crowd. I think, it's important to be assertive and learn how to pass gatekeepers up in order to speak with a decision maker, this will definitely give the job seeker an upper hand.

I have been told that in order to make a positive impression on a possible employer it is smart to personally visit and introduce before an interview. Having both a personal connection and using today's resources to be seen online helps advantage wise but people need to realize that because today is so advanced everyone has these resources. There still needs to be that extra special something that makes you stand out. The idea of making a resume website intrigued me a lot!
