Here at The Reverse Auction Research Center (http://ping.fm/oIPM9), we have been following with great interest developments in Illinois as the state government has authorized agencies to use reverse auctions in their procurements. Now, other city and county governments are following suit. There has been interest from across the state for municipal and county governments to follow the "best practice" of introducing more competition and transparency in their acquisitions by introducing reverse auctions into their procurement strategies. Here is an example of such, as the City Council of Quincy, Illinois is considering an ordinance to authorize reverse auctions. The effort has been initiated by Alderman Kyle Moore, who correctly cites statistics on just how much the town can save through going to reverse auctions. Read the complete story here:
