Palestinian death toll rises to 14 after Israeli airstrikes
The Israeli military has said it launched multiple airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, with one of them killing a high-ranking militant in the Palestinian territory. Officials in Gaza say the Palestinian death toll is now 14.

Opposition rallies to demonstrate against last week's Russian presidential election saw a drop in numbers. Police arrested a few dozen protesters.

Recent polls suggest Slovakia's center-right coalition, already on the verge of collapse, will face defeat in parliamentary elections Saturday. The center-left Smer-Social Democracy is expected to win in a landslide.

Athens sets sights on elections after debt swap
Following the completion of the bond swap deal, Greek politicians are looking to upcoming general elections. The deal sliced more than 100 billion euros from Greece's deficit and cleared the way for fresh bailout funds.

German women take gold in biathlon relay
A home crowd cheered on the German women as they took gold in the relay at the biathlon world championships in Ruhpolding on Saturday.
Italy
Tanker runs aground off Italian coast, crew rescued
Helicopters with the Italian coast guard have saved all 19 crew members from an empty oil tanker that hit rocks off the coast of Sicily.
