Above is a look at how past gold medal winning times in this event compare to Ye's time of 4:28.43. What stands out is that she beat the 2008 gold medal winning time by more than a second, despite the swimmers that year using swimsuits that are now illegal. So a better comparison is how she beat the 2000 and 2004 winning times by more than five seconds. This doesn't mean she has done anything illegal.
