Seriously!? -- Poll of the Day: Americans see too much regulation on business --Tweet of Yesterday | 1.) From Larry Flynt's cold, dead hands -- That's where Flynt keeps his porn. He won't relinquish it without a fight. TheDC's Steven Nelson reports:
"Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt told The Daily Caller that despite Mitt Romney’s promise to bring back federal obscenity prosecutions, the country has changed and Romney would fail if he tried to crack down on pornography as president. 'Romney can have all the plans he wants to about prosecuting pornography, but that train has already left the station,' said Flynt. 'I’m not saying that he isn’t serious about it, but it’s doubtful that he’d follow through if he’s in office because his advisers will tell him that he can’t win.'" | 2.) It's a bear market for Obama campaign knick-knacks -- But for anti-Obama tchotchkes, business is booming. TheDC's Caroline May reports:
"In a dramatic shift from then-Sen. Barack Obama’s 2008 election effort to this election cycle, anti-Obama CafePress merchandise sales are outpacing pro-Obama sales. During the first six months of 2008, 86 percent of Obama-related sales at CafePress were pro-Obama --- just 14 percent were anti-Obama. Over the first six months of 2012, 45 percent of Obama merchandise sales have been pro-Obama, 55 percent have been anti-Obama, according to CafePress totals."
Who said the American people have tired of the message of change? | 3.) Obama malpractice -- Some doctors remain infuriated at President Obama's health care law. TheDC reports:
"A doctor representing the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons told The Daily Caller on Thursday that 'physicians have reached a tipping point' under current health care legislation, as they cannot both care for their patients and comply with mandated regulations ... Rising costs of malpractice insurance and regulatory paperwork, along with shrinking reimbursements paid to doctors on behalf of Medicare patients, have all but forced doctors to become hospital employees, McIntyre said. He believes patients will see the quality and accessibility of healthcare deteriorate as more and more doctors, struggling to eek out a profit, leave their private practices for hospitals."
If it's a moral right for everyone to receive health care from the government, perhaps President Obama will become a doctor in his post-presidency to help alleviate the doctor shortage. | 4.) Seriously? No, no no. Seriously!? -- Because pictures are lovely, TheDC's Jamie Weinstein (ME!) reports on comic books:
"Get ready for an Alvin Greene comic book. Another one. Greene, the unlikely and entirely bizarre Democratic challenger to Republican Sen. Jim DeMint in South Carolina in 2010, released a superhero themed comic book after his failed Senate bid. In the comic book, Greene's embarrassing past was apparently whitewashed to portray him as a modern day mix of Robin Hood and Superman. Now, two reporters are out with a new comic book that tells the real Alvin Greene story, warts and all."
If there is one thing America needs, it is definitely two Alvin Greene comic books. | | 5.) Poll of the Day: Americans see too much regulation on business -- CBS News/New York Times poll asks, "Do you think the federal government regulates business too much these days, does it regulate business too little, or does it impose the right amount of regulation on business?": 49% of American adults said too much, 22% said too little, 19% said just the right amount, 3% said it depends while 7% were unsure. | | 6.)
