Swimming And Running Are Keys To Dominating The Summer Olympics

To be a dominant country in the Summer Olympics, it is good to have medal contenders in all sports. But those sports are not evenly represented. So it helps if the country is strong in both swimming and running.

Here is a look at how the 302 events at London 2012 are broken down by sport, with Track & Field and Swimming representing more than one-fourth of all medals (27%). In fact, the United States, which is second overall in the medal standings has nearly half of their medals so far in the pool (30 of 66).
