At least 42 people were killed and hundreds more wounded Monday morning in a massacre of Morsi's supporters in Cairo. Christopher Dickey and Mike Giglio on the first casualty in Egypt: the truth. Plus, read our live blog for the latest news.
INVESTIGATION

Investigators are still searching for the cause of the crash of Asiana Flight 214, but the airline confirmed on Sunday that the pilot on the doomed plane had only 43 hours experience flying Boeing 777s. Asiana spokeswoman Lee Hyo-min said that the pilot, Lee Kang-kook, was in training for flying the aircraft, but the plane's co-pilot, Lee Jeong-min, had "lots of experience with 777s." Two people were killed and dozens more injured in Saturday's crash at a San Francisco Airport. The National Safety Review Board reported that the jet was flying "below target speed" before the crash, and federal investigators now believe the plane came into the airport far too low and hit the seawall.

TRAGEDY

Two 16-year-old Chinese girls, Wang Linjia and Ye Mengyuan, were among 32 students and a teacher traveling from Jiangshan Middle School in Zheijan province to Los Angeles for church camp, via Asiana Flight 214 from Seoul to San Francisco. Linjia and Mengyuan were the crash's only two fatalities, with their bodies found less than a mile apart. One of the dead girls was found on the runway, possibly after being ejected from the plane, while the other was found closer to the wreckage and may have been killed after being run over by emergency vehicles. Investigators are still trying to identify the victims. Of the Jiangshan group, at least two people are paralyzed with spinal injuries, and eight are in critical condition as of Sunday night.

EYE ON THE PRIZE

How the mighty fall ... and then get back up again, especially in New York City politics. Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned from office in disgrace after his dalliances with prostitutes came to light, may run for New York City comptroller. According to The New York Times, Spitzer is seeking a spot on the ballot for the race. Since leaving office, Spitzer has worked for a variety of media outlets, including Slate, CNN, and Current TV. He left Current in January after its owners announced they were selling the station to Al Jazeera.
