IMG_4971Hello, everybody. Happy Sunday! It’s fall. The weather is turning in North America. I still haven’t had a pumpkin spice latte. Ever.

I have a slow week leading up to a trip to Las Vegas. No media appearances, no interviews, no photographers trying to capture images of my children.

(I did do a last-minute interview with the NY Post, last week, that hasn’t been published just yet. I hope to make it into every tabloid newspaper in America.)

This week, I will be writing about the relationship between Iran and America. I will also write about fashion looks for Fall 2013. (Spoiler: you only have a few more weeks for that chambray shirt before the weather starts to turn.)

And I will write about how a huge Confederate battle flag was unfurled off I-95 in Virginia. (I know I live in North Carolina, the home of voter oppression, but Virginia is something else.)

Have a great week!

Honouring a legend and a tyrant. #hrtechconf

bill kutikHow do you honor a legend and a tyrant?

I wasn’t sure, so I picked up the phone and called the man himself.

“Hey, Bill. George LaRocque and I want to honor you at InfluenceHR and give you an award for being an important force in marketing and HR technology. Do you want a commemorative plaque or something you can put on your desk and throw at people?”

Bill said, “That’s nice of you to ask. I want something for my wall. And don’t honor me too early in the morning.”

Jesus. This guy.

Bill Kutik is about to retire. He has built an empire over at the HR Technology Conference & Expo and we are honoring him for his hard work. More importantly, we wanted to remind everyone how Bill has — among other things — used smart and sophisticated marketing techniques to redefine the way that human resources technology solutions are evaluated, tested, defined, refined, and purchased in the marketplace.

And we wanted to say thanks for being a mentor . . . although we would never use that word around him because, my god, we would never hear the end of it. He would mentor us to the grave.

So if you are going to HR Tech, please use the Promo Code CYNICAL13 (all caps) when you register online to get $500 off the rate of $1,895. The discount does not expire until the conference ends on Oct. 9.

logo-nyAnd if you are attending InfluenceHR, please make sure you stick around for the award ceremony at the very end of the day — because we don’t want to wake Bill up too early — and the party afterwards. You cannot crash the party without a InfluenceHR ticket because I make the rules now that Bill is gone.

(Oh wait. He’s not gone, yet. Dammit.)
