Netanyahu Wants Hamas to Stay While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israeli forces into Gaza to beat back Hamas, Josh Rogin and Eli Lake report he does not want to destroy the group. Apparently aware of the "you break it, you own it" rule of international politics, Netanyahu doesn't want Israel to have to administer Gaza, or have somebody like ISIS take over. House GOP Authorizes Obama Lawsuit On Wednesday, House Republicans gave Speaker John Boehner the approval to go ahead with a lawsuit against President Obama, alleging he overreached his powers in executing the Affordable Care Act. In an almost exact party-line vote, 225 Republicans voted in support and 201 Democrats voted against authorizing the federal suit. Democrats have accused Republicans of using the suit as a first step toward impeaching Obama, though Republicans have denied this. Earlier Wednesday, Obama denounced the prospective suit as a "political stunt" and told Republicans to "stop just hating all the time." Read it at The Daily Beast COMING CLEAN 3. State Dept.: 'No American Is Proud' of CIA Tactics In "preliminary proposed talking points" made in response to a classified Senate report on post-9/11 CIA interrogation and detention policies, the State Department reportedly says, "This report tells a story of which no American is proud." The document, which was accidentally emailed to an Associated Press reporter, was put together by the White House in response to a report that says the agency treated suspects more brutally than was understood, that the tactics didn't produce life-saving intelligence, and that the CIA misled Congress. The State Department proposed to say that the Senate report "leaves no doubt that the methods used to extract information from some terrorist suspects caused profound pain, suffering, and humiliation. It also leaves no doubt that the harm caused by the use of these techniques outweighed any potential benefit." Read it at Associated Press BAD BOYS 4. Philly Cops Charged With Stealing $500,000 A total of six Philadelphia cops were arrested Wednesday by federal authorities on a 26-count indictment that alleges that between 2006 and 2012 they stole more than $500,000 in cash, drugs, and personal property—and used extreme force to get it. Those who refused to pay up were allegedly hung over balconies, beaten, held in nasty hotel rooms for days, or threatened with the seizure of their homes. The charges also allege that they kept score over who could cause the worst injuries to victims. All six have faced multiple investigations over the years. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey on Wednesday said that the city's contract with police officers was to blame—because it prevented him from transferring the officers when suspicions first emerged in 2005.
