What to Wear for an Interview
Alison Doyle
From Alison Doyle, your Guide to Job Searching
The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.
How to Dress for an Interview
How to dress for an interview including advice on what, and what not, to wear on a job interview, appropriate interview attire, how to impress a prospective employer, business vs. business casual attire, and tips on dressing for success.

What Not to Wear
When you are dressing for a job interview, image really is everything (or most of it). The image you present to a potential employer is the first thing they are going to notice about you - before you even have a chance to say a word or shake a hand.

Professional Interview Attire
The candidate dressed in a suit, with a coordinated long sleeve shirt or blouse, conservative shoes, a professional hairstyle, and limited jewelry and perfume or aftershave, will make the best impression. Here's a photo gallery of candidates dressed their best for an interview.

What to Wear for a Non-Professional Interview
When you're interviewing for a non-professional level position (in a store or restaurant, for example) business casual attire is usually appropriate. It is always important to be neat, tidy, and well-groomed and to present a positive image to the employer.

I always thought early 90s Elvis Costello was bittersweet. Kind of like Labor Day weekend.
