(Reuters) - Plains Exploration & Production Co said it will buy BP Plc's interests in some deepwater Gulf of Mexico oil and gas properties for $5.55 billion.

LONDON (Reuters) - Commodities trader Glencore laid out its raised $36 billion all-share bid for Xstrata on Monday, warning it would not improve the terms again after making concessions to recalcitrant shareholders.
APM Terminals buys into Global Ports for Russian growth

HONG KONG/SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Thai Beverage PCL is seeking a loan of around S$9 billion ($7.3 billion) to fund a possible takeover of Singapore drinks-and-property group Fraser and Neave Ltd (F&N) in a deal that will give it the right to block rival Heineken NV's bid for F&N's key beer business.
AstraZeneca fast-tracks biotech drug with China JV
LONDON (Reuters) - AstraZeneca raised its bet on the Chinese drugs market on Monday by clinching a joint venture deal with local firm WuXi AppTec to develop a novel biotech medicine in the country, speeding its path to market.
Elbit Systems, IAI get $603 million Israel defense contract
TEL AVIV (Reuters) - A partnership between defense electronics firm Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) established to perform the Israeli Air Forces' future trainer program reached an agreement with the Defense Ministry for a contract worth $603 million.

WELLINGTON/HONG KONG (Reuters) - China's Haier Group, parent of Carlyle-backed Haier Electronics , is looking at a takeover of New Zealand's Fisher and Paykel Appliances Ltd , in a deal that could value the dishwasher and washing machine maker at some $600 million.
