Turkey calls for UN Security Council overhaul
Turkey's prime minister has criticized UN efforts to end Syria's conflict. This comes as the UN-Arab League envoy for Syria and Germany's foreign minister meet with Turkish officials to discuss the conflict.
Egypt
Egypt's prosecutor general to keep post
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has reached an agreement with the country's chief prosecutor allowing the latter to stay on. Violence related to protests over the prosecutor's performance injured more than 100 Friday.

IMF calls for balance of austerity and growth measures
World financial leaders have called for austerity to be balanced by growth in order to prevent the global economy from sinking back into crisis. They have also called on the EU to do more to contain its debt crisis.
Africa
Security Council requests military plan from Mali
The UN Security Council has asked the government of Mali to draw up plans for a military mission to re-establish control of the north.Tuareg rebels and Islamists seized the region after a botched coup earlier this year.
Terrorism
Suicide attack kills 16 at Pakistani market
Police in Pakistan say at least 16 people have been killed in a car bomb attack in the northwest of the country. Meanwhile, a schoolgirl shot by the Taliban for advocating girls' right to education is said to be stable.
Culture
Auction makes Richter most expensive living artist
A painting by the German artist Gerhard Richter has been sold for around twice its estimated value. The price was also more than 10 times what the British guitarist Eric Clapton paid for the work a decade ago.
Space
Galileo navigational system enters testing stage
Europe's planned satellite navigation system came a step closer to completion on Friday with the launch into orbit of two more satellites. The launch means the system can now be tested.
