DAY OF RAGE

Scores of protesters are feared dead after a day of violence in Cairo. The Daily Beast's Mike Giglio was among the foreign reporters arrested and beaten by security forces.

I LOVE THE '90S

There are already signs Hillary's presidential campaign will drudge up the weird, obsessive hatred the Boomer left developed for the Clintons in the 1990s. But this time, their derision will only have the power to do one thing: help her win, writes The Daily Beast's Michael Tomasky.

FATAL

A UPS cargo plane en route from Louisville, Kentucky, crashed in Alabama early Wednesday morning, killing the pilot and copilot. It's unclear how many other people were on board the aircraft. At least two explosions went off after the crash. The crash occurred just outside the fence of the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, as the plane approached for landing.

RIP

Longtime political journalist Jack Germond died early Wednesday morning, his wife, Alice, confirmed. He was 85. Germond was a columnist for the Washington Star, after spending 20 years at the Baltimore Sun and 20 years prior to that at Gannett papers. From 1977 until 2000, he wrote a syndicated column with Jules Witcover that ran five days a week. The pair also wrote four books together about the presidential elections in 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992. He has been appearing on PBS's McLaughlin Group since the show began in 1981. Germond's wife said in an email to Politico he died "peacefully and quickly" just before 4 a.m.—and just after completing a novel he had been thinking about for years.

'i will never forgive myself'

Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old girl who was kidnapped and rescued from the wilderness of Idaho, answered questions about her dramatic abduction "so people know the truth" on her Ask.fm page Tuesday night. "He told us he was losing his house because of money issues so we went up there one last time to support him ... but he tricked us," she wrote of kidnapper James DiMaggio. In response to a question asking what she would want to tell her brother and her mother, both of whom were murdered, she wrote: "That I'm sorry it ended like that. I wish I could go back in time and risk my life to try and save theirs. I will never forgive myself for not trying harder to save them."
