The Mom Forced to Have a C-Section Too often, women find themselves in labor and under pressure from their doctor to have a C-section against their will. Emily Shire reports on the case of Rinat Dray, who says she was threatened by her doctor and never consented to the procedure. Even worse, the reason behind the high number may be financial incentives for the doctor and hospital, or that doctors don't have the time. Read it at The Daily Beast AWOL 2. Bergdahl Walked Away Before The New York Times reported Thursday that a classified military investigation found that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl twice left his posts without permission prior to his 2009 capture by the Taliban. One incident occured in California and another in Afghanistan. The report concluded that Bergdahl most likely walked away that final time of his own volition, but stops short of saying he deserted. The report does not mention the supposed letter Bergdahl left his unit saying he was deserting, which is what a military official briefed on the investigation told the Times earlier this week.  Read it at The New York Times HEADS ROLL 3. GM Fires 15 Over Ignition Deaths General Motors CEO Mary Barra announced Thursday that 15 employees "who we determined to have acted inappropriately" were fired in regard to an ignition-switch defect linked to at least 13 deaths and 47 crashes. Five additional employees have been disciplined for the failure to act. At the same time, GM has finished its internal investigation into the years-long failure to recall millions of cars with the defect, and concluded there was no deliberate coverup. Indian Minister Says 'Sometimes' Rape Is Right An Indian minister responsible for law and order in the state of Madhya Pradesh is coming under fire after saying of rape: "Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong." Babulal Gaur, a member of the BJP party that recently dominated elections in India, also said that "until there's a complaint, nothing can happen" to punish rapists. According to The Guardian, one rape is reported every 21 minutes in India. Recent rapes have thrust the issue back in the spotlight. Two teenage girls were gang-raped and hanged last week, and when the family tried to report it they were turned away. Another woman was recently gang-raped, forced to drink acid, and strangled to death. Another was shot dead for fighting back. Read it at The Guardian WANT?
