ERROR
When President Obama announced on Thursday night that he had authorized airstrikes against ISIS, he killed his previous policy on Iraq. Jacob Siegel reports the U.S. gambled to have local militias keep ISIS in check and failed.
GET READY
The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has claimed more than 900 lives, prompting leaders of the fight against the disease to hold an emergency hearing Thursday in Washington. Abby Haglage reports that the outbreak is getting worse and the international response has been disastrous.
RIGHTING THE SHIP

Troubled national airline Malaysia Airlines will be undergoing a "complete overhaul," the government announced on Friday. The government has de-listed the airline as ticket sales have plummeted in the aftermath of the disappearance of MH370 in March and the shooting down of MH17 in July. The recent events came after three straight years of losses for the airline. The airline has 151 planes and 20,000 employees.

FALSE ALARM

While the Secret Service is used to ambitious people jumping the fence surrounding the White House, the agency was faced with a new challenge on Thursday. A toddler squeezed through the railings, causing agents to sprint across the White House lawn, putting the complex on lockdown. The toddler was eventually reunited with his parents. "We were going to wait until he learned to talk to question him, but in lieu of that he got a timeout and was sent on his way with his parents," said Edwin Donovan, spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service.

ANOTHER ONE

Republican Senator Lamar Alexander held onto the GOP nomination Thursday after defeating a strong Tea Party challenge by State Representative Joe Carr, 49.7 percent to 40.5 percent. Alexander, who has served two terms in the Senate and was once the state's governor, outspent Carr 5 to 1. Alexander declared that the party had "nominated a get-it-done United States senator. Someone who can make a conservative speech but who can also get results on controlling our borders, controlling our debt, returning back to the states our education policy. Those are the issues that need to be dealt with."
