Did you know that tablet viewers spend 68% of their time watching videos that are over 10 minutes long? That probably explains why smartphone and tablet views were up an astounding 114% year over year from Q3 2013 to Q3 2014.
According to Ooyala's Q3 2014 Video Index, video's migration to wired screens shows no signs of slowing down. In a recent interview on challenges facing the cable industry, AMC Networks CEO John Sapan cited "an almost unstoppable trend for technology to facilitate consumer discretion and choice." Hollywood has taken note of this trend, with HBO, CBS, and others touting new online-streaming offerings.
