Despite Qatar's promises to create better working conditions, Nepalese migrants working to build infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar died at a rate of one every two days in 2014. That already high number does not include the deaths of Indian, Sri Lankan, and Bangladeshi workers. After a blockbuster report by The Guardian in 2013 exposed the horrible conditions for migrant workers, the government promised reform and commissioned an investigation by DLA Piper. Apparently, those reforms have not been implemented fast enough.
