Merkel reported to be mulling Euro 2012 boycott
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is reported to be considering boycotting Euro 2012 football matches in Ukraine to protest its government's treatment of the country's jailed former prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko.

Gunmen kill worshippers on Nigerian campus
Gunmen on motorcycles have killed at least 16 people on a campus in the northern Nigerian city of Kano. Bombs were thrown into a lecture room being used for a Catholic Mass. Worshippers fled and were shot dead outside.

Westerwelle pledges support for Myanmar reform process
Germany's foreign minister met with Myanmar's leading opposition figure on Sunday. He pledged Germany's support as long as the government continues down the path of political reform.

UN mission chief calls for an end to all violence in Syria
The man who is to lead a team of UN observers in Syria has called on both sides to cease all hostilities. Norwegian Major General Robert Mood spoke to reporters shortly after arriving in Damascus.

Mali coup leader rejects West African troop deployment
The captain who led last month's coup in Mali has said he will not accept the deployment of regional West African troops from the ECOWAS group. He has also rejected a proposed 12-month transition period for Mali.

Explosion in Nairobi church kills one
A grenade thrown by a worshipper in a Nairobi church has killed at least one person and injured several others. It is the latest in a string of deadly attacks in the capital blamed on Islamist militants from Somalia.

French journalist missing in Colombia
A French journalist has disappeared in Colombia after the army column he was accompanying came under deadly attack by leftist rebels. A search operation is underway.

Spaniards protest, Rajoy stands firm on spending cuts
Spaniards demonstrated in more than 50 cities on Sunday to protest against the government's latest plans to trim education and health spending as part of its bid to tackle the country's debt crisis.
