| | | | | | | | | | A Saints Player Got A Much Harsher Penalty Than His Coach In Bountygate
The NFL announced yesterday that they had suspended four players for their participation in the New Orleans Saints' bounty programs.
The strongest suspension was handed down to linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who was suspended for the entire 2012 season, as somebody who was considered to be in a leadership position and "contributed a particularly large sum of money toward the program."
This year-long suspension is the same penalty handed down to Saints head coach Sean Payton, which seems odd considering one year is much more significant to a player, than it is to a coach.
Above is a look at how much of each person's career will be lost to their Bountygate suspension. And consider that Vilma, at age 30, may only have a few years left in the NFL, while Payton, at 48, could potentially keep coaching for another 20 years.
