Today's advice comes from Victoria Tifft, CEO of ClinicalRM, via her interview with Entrepreneur: "Knowing how to take care of our customers has always helped us grow organically. As I always say to my staff, our customers do our selling for us, as a lot of our business is by referral or repeat business." Tifft's vaccine research center has grown to 300 employees since its beginnings in 1994 with three employees. Her model for growth revolves almost entirely around the customer. According to Tifft, an important part of the business is treating customers with individuality and making each interaction unique. By knowing the customers well, you can make predictions about what they want and cater to their demands. For Tifft, her customer service model leads to referrals, increasing business for her company. "For us, one of the key challenges is to make sure we do the right thing when it's the hard thing to do. And we stick to our guns. And make our decision based on what's right for the customer. And if you do that, over time, in the end, you'll prosper because doing the right thing for your customer is the right thing to do for you business."
