Juror: Some of Us Wanted to Convict One of the jurors in George Zimmerman's trial said Monday that the jury had been split at first, with three people wanting to acquit, two interested in manslaughter, and one person backing second-degree murder. "I want people to know that we put everything into this verdict," the juror told CNN's Anderson Cooper. The all-female jury found Zimmerman, 29, not guilty Saturday in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last year. Zimmerman had been charged with second-degree murder, but the jury was also allowed to consider manslaughter. "I think both were responsible for the situation they had gotten themselves into," said the juror, known as B37. "I think they both could have walked away." Read it at Associated Press TURMOIL 3. Seven Dead as Egypt Riots Erupt Seven people were killed Monday night in Egypt in clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi. State media said 261 people were injured in the riots as police reportedly used tear gas and even hurled rocks to keep the protesters back. The riot began Monday night as protesters blocked the 6 October Bridge, one of the city's main thoroughfares. The crowds gathered as a senior U.S. envoy, William Burns, visited Egypt and said the country had been given a "second chance on democracy." Burns met with Egypt's interim president, Adly Mansour, and Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblaw, as well as Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who oversaw Morsi's ouster. Read it at BBC News vicious 4. Mexico Arrests Drug Kingpin Mexico has captured the head of the notoriously vicious Zetas drug cartel. Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, known as "Z-40," was caught in Nuevo Laredo by Mexican Marines. He's reputed to be exceptionally dangerous and violent—he's known to burn his enemies alive in 55-gallon drums. The Zetas have spread terror through Mexico in the brutal drug war as they've made their name displaying bodies of their murdered victims throughout the country. Trevino Morales's capture is thought to be the first major blow against organized crime by President Enrique Peña Nieto, whose campaign promised to drive down crime figures.
