ATTACK

Canadian Police say a 12-foot-long, 100-pound African rock python "attacked" two young boys whose bodies were found dead on Monday—but exactly how they died is still far from clear. Even reptile experts are puzzled, reports Christine Pelisek.

SILENT TREATMENT

President Obama won't be paying Russian President Vladimir Putin a visit after all. Obama canceled a planned summit after Russia refused to send NSA leaker Edward Snowden back to the U.S. to face charges. Tensions with Russia have been growing over that country's support of embattled Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad.

FORT HOOD

Maj. Nidal Hasan is trying to get himself sentenced to death, according to a lawyer on his standby legal team. Yesterday Hasan told the jury that he shot and killed 13 soldiers at Fort Hood and that he had switched sides in a war between the U.S. and Islam. Hasan is representing himself, but he still has a standby defense team, which today asked for a reduced role in the case, claiming that Hasan was trying to get the death penalty and that helping him reach that goal was "repugnant."

HOUSE OF HORRORS

The house where Ariel Castro kept three women imprisoned for more than a decade was torn down Wednesday morning while one of his victims, Michelle Knight, looked on. Knight wore a rosary around her neck, prayed, and said, "Nobody was there for me when I was missing, and I want people to know, including the mothers, that they can have strength, they can have hope, and their child will come back." Knight released into the sky a dozen yellow balloons, which she said represented children who were abducted and never found. Castro, 53, was sentenced to life without parole last week after holding Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus hostage for nearly a decade before Berry led an escape in May.

UNFRIENDLY

Jennifer Aniston's latest, the raunchy R-rated comedy We're the Millers, hits theaters today. Unfortunately, it's terrible, writes The Daily Beast's Kevin Fallon. She's failed as the next rom-com queen. She's flailing in her attempt at becoming a lascivious leading lady. So what, exactly, do we want from Jennifer Aniston?

Weiner Calls Opponent 'Grandpa'

At a mayoral forum on Tuesday night, Anthony Weiner got in a heated exchange with another candidate, culminating in this ageist insult. The best part? The forum was sponsored by the AARP.
