HACK YOUR FEAST

Overeating and overdrinking on Turkey Day are inevitable. Every Thanksgiving, you'll read lots of advice about how to stick to your diet while everyone around you is feasting, but you know it'll never happen. The Daily Beast's Dave Asprey has a few science-backed tips that will make indulging—and recovering—faster and easier.

#HOMEFORTHANKSGIVING

From the finest crime reporter in New York, a sweet, suspenseful, and social-media savvy tale of a Turkey Day homecoming that nearly went awry. The Daily Beast's Michael Daly says this is truly the best holiday.

OMG

A shudder of fear just went through parents everywhere. Due to fears about consumer reluctance, many stores have ordered fewer toys, and toy shipments to the U.S. in the past six months are down two percent from 2012. While the major chains like Target, WalMart and Toys R Us say they should be fine, other stores say they are already out of certain toys (like the Rainbow Loom and Hog Wild's Atomic Power Poppers). Retailers are likely worried that analysts are predicting revenues from holiday shopping to drop two percent, as 30 percent of shoppers expect to spend less this holiday season on toys.

UH-OH

Senator Robert Menendez, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee slammed the White House on Wednesday for using what he sees as "over the top" language and "fear-mongering" to stop new sanctions on Iran after the administration negotiated an interim deal with the country. "What I don't appreciate is when I hear remarks out of the White House spokesman that ... if we're pursuing sanctions we're marching the country off to war. I think that's way over the top, I think that's fear-mongering," Menendez said on NPR. Menendez joins many Republicans and some Democrats who have been critical of the administration's interim deal with Tehran in which Iran accepts limits on its nuclear program in return for relief from sanctions that have devastated its economy.

GOING WITHOUT

With needy families already feeling the sting of cuts to food stamps, outrage is growing over a Republican push to slash even more from the program, just in time for the holiday season. The Daily Beast's Eleanor Clift reports.
