Four children from one Palestinian family were killed by Israeli shelling of a Gaza beach Wednesday. The boys, ages 9 to 11, died from shrapnel wounds and burns. Dozens of journalists witnessed the attack, which occured in front of the Beach Hotel, which is popular with the foreign press. A Guardian correspondent said he and other journalists ran to the children's aid. "The second shell catches the survivors as they reach the brightly coloured tents," Peter Beaumont wrote. "As it explodes, my colleagues, now standing by the terrace wall, shout at unseen Israeli gunners who can't hear them: 'They are only children.'" Gaza's health ministry says more than 200 people have been killed in fighting, 37 of them children. It's about to get worse, too: An Israeli official said the chances of a ground invasion to stop Hamas from firing hundreds of rockets at Israel is "very high."
