The opposition party of Aung San Suu Kyi has agreed to take the oath and begin work in parliament. Burmese opposition to enter parliament Africa Senior Nigerian police officer survives bombing A suicide bomber has missed a police commissioner, but killed at least 6 other people in Nigeria's northeastern city of Jalingo. The attack on the police convoy follows two fatal attacks on church worshippers. Boko Haram attacks not just a threat for Nigeria Arab World Bahrain orders new trial for hunger striker, other activists Bahrain's highest appeals court has ordered a retrial for a prominent opposition leader and 20 other activists, some of whom had been sentenced to life in prison for plotting to overthrow the country's Sunni rulers. The report's lead author also said they were not reducing deficits. ILO warns of rising unemployment Business European Union Spain admits to recession, sees banks downgraded The Spanish economy has logged its second consecutive quarter with no economic growth, meaning that the country is now officially in a recession.
