A provincial leader in Afghanistan has said that five aid workers have been kidnapped in the extreme northeast of the country. Two foreign women are among the abductees; the kidnappers' identities are unknown.

Most Fukushima radiation doses within norms, WHO finds
A World Health Organization study has reported largely positive findings regarding radiation levels in Japan and neighboring countries after the problems at the Fukushima power plant last year.
