Motivational Tip
Quotes of the Week
"When there are two conflicting versions of a story, the wise course is to believe the one in which people appear at their worst." --H. Allen Smith
"...conflict is the primary engine of creativity and innovation. People don't learn by staring into a mirror; people learn by encountering difference." --Ronald Heifetz

Take Action Tip
Workplace Conflict Resolution: People Management Tips
The temptation, as an organization leader, is to solve staff problems for them. After all, that's part of the reason you became a manager, isn't it? You are a good problem solver. Think about it this way, however. If you solve all the problems, are you enabling and empowering your staff members to grow? Thus, your role as mediator takes center stage.

As an organization leader, manager or supervisor, you are responsible for creating a work environment that enables people to thrive. If turf wars, conflicts, disagreements and differences of opinion escalate into interpersonal conflict, you must intervene immediately. Conflict resolution, with you as mediator, is essential. Conflict resolution is an immediate priority for your organization.

Fight for What's Right: Ten Tips
Conflict avoidance is most frequently the topic when conflict in organizations is discussed. Conflict resolution - as quickly as possible - is the second most frequent topic. This is bad news because meaningful conflict is a cornerstone in healthy, successful organizations. These tips will help you initiate and encourage positive conflict. These tips tell you how to create a work environment that encourages healthy conflict over ideas and plans - not personalities.
