From Dawn Rosenberg McKay, your Guide to Career Planning
Actors and other performers get all the attention in the entertainment biz, but without the people who do a variety of things behind the scenes, we'd never get to see their work. Let's take a look at some of these occupations.

Audio Engineer
Are you enjoying that new single from your favorite singer? You have an audio engineer to thank because without him or her you wouldn't have the opportunity to hear it. Audio engineers, using specialized machinery and equipment, record, synchronize, mix or reproduce music, voices and sound effects.

Producer
Movies don't mysteriously appear in local theaters, nor do television shows magically show up on network or cable television. It takes money to get them there. Producers are responsible for handling the finances and other business matters for movies and television shows as well as video games and computer software.

Broadcast Technician
Without broadcast technicians you'd be staring at a blank television screen instead of the sitcom you wanted to watch. If you turned on the radio, you wouldn't hear much either. Broadcast technicians use special equipment to regulate broadcast signals and are responsible for bringing us images and sounds.

Makeup Artist
Most actors and actors will cop to the fact that they don't roll out of bed looking the way they look on screen or stage. Even the most beautiful among them benefit from the cosmetics makeup artists apply to enhance their appearances.
