The Democrats' 'war on mothers' -- Obama trying to trade Biden for Ryan? -- Nudists for Yoder -- No nostalgia for Mubarak -- Poll of the Day: Poll shows Romney up in Michigan --Tweet of Yesterday
1.) The Democrats' 'war on mothers' -- Even Gloria Steinem is upset. TheDC's Caroline May reports:

"Feminist activist Gloria Steinem and several chapters of the National Organization for Women (NOW) have condemned the Democratic National Committee for 'discrimination against mothers with young children' during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. 'Women are the key to a Democratic victory, and sometimes, children are the key to women,' Steinem said in a statement. 'It’s both right and smart for the Democratic Convention to behave as if children exist.'"

What an outrage.
2.) Obama trying to trade Biden for Ryan?  -- Guess who may be coming to the Republican National Convention? TheDC's Alex Pappas reports:

"Vice President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to crash the party next week when Republicans gather in Tampa, Fla., for the GOP convention. The Drudge Report cited sources Tuesday saying that Secret Service agents have been spotted in Tampa telling people that they are doing advance work for Biden’s trip. He’s expected to be in Tampa on Monday or Tuesday, the news website reported."

The Obama campaign later confirmed that Biden would be there for a campaign event. Perhaps President Obama wants to share his misfortune with the GOP --- if Biden has to appear at the Democratic National Convention, why not force him on the Republicans too. But, alternatively, could President Obama be secretly trying to shop Biden to the GOP? "Guys, this isn't fair. You got to take him. Are you kidding me? I have to run with this guy? Please, Mitt, for the love of everything that is holy, do me this one favor. My campaign won't insinuate you're a felon anymore. I promise."
3.) Nudists for Yoder -- A story Sunday evening in Politico reported that Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder went skinny dipping in the Sea of Galilee while on a trip to Israel in 2011. A faux-controversy erupted, but now Yoder has a strong advocacy group in his corner. TheDC's Taylor Bigler reports:

"The Kansas congressman came under fire this week after it was revealed that he jumped into the water without his clothes on during a fact-finding mission to the Holy land last summer. In a Tuesday press release, [the American Association for Nude Recreation] defended Yoder’s right to naked swimming, the Tampa Bay Times first reported. The group describes itself as an association that 'advocates people should skinny-dip in appropriate settings like their own back yards, nudist resorts and clubs, legal nude beaches, etc.' 'Congressman Yoder is a typical American who enjoys skinny-dipping, like over 50 million other Americans,' AANR said in a press release, which cited several presidents, including George W. Bush, JFK and Teddy Roosevelt as being among the 25 percent of Americans who have skinny-dipped."

Yea, that's right, just let Yoder be Yoder. Give this modern day Teddy Roosevelt a break.
4.) No nostalgia for Mubarak -- Independent foreign correspondent Michael Totten has no sympathy for the Muslim Brotherhood, but he also has no nostalgia for former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak. If given the opportunity to reverse the clock and restore Mubarak, Totten tells TheDC's Jamie Weinstein (ME!) he wouldn't:

"The biggest reason I wouldn’t restore Mubarak isn’t because I think the Muslim Brotherhood is the lesser of evils. In all likelihood, a Muslim Brotherhood government is the greater of evils. The reason I wouldn’t put Mubarak back in the saddle is because it has been apparent to me for years that Egypt was sooner or later going to pass through a period of Islamist government. Keeping someone like Mubarak around was only going to prolong the inevitable."

Read TheDC's full interview with Totten on Syria, Iran and his new book, "Where the West Ends," which you can purchase here.
5.) Poll of the Day: Poll shows Romney up in Michigan -- Foster McCollum White Baydoun poll of registered Michigan voters likely to vote: Mitt Romney 47.68%, President Obama 43.88%.
6.) Tweet of Yesterday -- jimantle: I think when you have to cut an ad explaining that you oppose rape, it's time to hang it up.
