Karadzic: I Should Be 'Rewarded' Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic insisted he is innocent of war crimes as he took the stand in his defense at his trial at The Hague on Tuesday. "Instead of being accused, I should have been rewarded for all the good things I have done," Karadzic said. He insisted he is a "tolerant man with a great capacity to understand others." He faces 10 charges of genocide war crimes and crimes against humanity for his alleged role in the Bosnian war in the 1990s, including the 1995 massacre at Srebrenica and 44-month siege of Sarajevo. Karadzic, 67, is defending himself. He was arrested in 2008 in Belgrade after 13 years on the run. Read it at BBC News DANGER 3. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton assumed full responsibility Monday for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya on Sept. 11 that claimed the lives of four Americans. "I want to avoid some political gotcha," she said in an interview Monday with CNN. She confirmed Vice President Joe Biden's controversial claim that the White House didn't know that there were requests made to enhance security in Benghazi, saying that those requests were handled exclusively by the State Department. She said that the mission now is to ensure it never happens again: "We can't not engage. We cannot retreat." Read it at CNN TENSE 5. Iran: EU Will Not Force Nuke Talks The tough new European Union sanctions against Iran will not force Tehran into talks over its nuclear program, Iran's foreign minister said on Monday. "We think the error in calculation which these countries are pursuing will distance them from a favorable result," said Iran's ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast. On Monday, the EU announced tougher sanctions against Iran, including prohibiting "all transactions" between Iranian and European banks. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister David Cameron said that while he would not tolerate a "nuclear-armed Iran," he urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "now is not the time for Israel to resort to military action."
