UN condemns Syria attack on Turkish town Terrorism UK court approves extradition of radical Muslim cleric The British High Court has ruled that radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza and four other terrorism suspects can be extradited to the USA for trial. The decision ends years of litigation. Africa South African mining firm fires 12,000 A world-leading mining firm has gone on a sacking spree in South Africa. Meanwhile, labor unrest is spreading outside the mining sector, causing serious strain to the country's economy. Middle East Jordan's opposition demonstrates for reform Protesters have taken to the streets in Jordan in demonstrations led by the Muslim Brotherhood. The activists are calling on the country's king to take bolder steps towards democratization. Arab World Police and protesters clash in Bahrain Police have clashed with protesters on the outskirts of the Bahraini capital, Manama, near the site of demonstrations that were brutally crushed last year. Demonstrators called on the king to step down. Africa Kenyans given right to sue UK over torture A British court has granted three elderly Kenyan veterans the right to sue the UK for damages over torture, which took place under British rule of Kenya in the 1950s. The UK Foreign Office will appeal the verdict. Politics Merkel's challenger under fire for extra earnings Peer Steinbrück has caved in and agreed to publish details on his income. His extra earnings as orator are at the center of a heated debate on transparency of parliamentarians' income in Germany. Wulff scandal raises questions over political sponsorship Art German mind and Russian soul An art exhibition opening in Berlin tracks this trajectory and promises to show Russian 'soul' and German 'mind.'
