First WA Same-Sex Couples Wed Three days after picking up their marriage licenses, couples celebrated Washington state’s first same-sex marriages early Sunday morning. Courthouses in some counties opened at midnight to accommodate the happy couples, and judges conducted ceremonies pro bono at Seattle City Hall. In November, Washington, Maryland, and Maine became the first states to pass a law allowing same-sex marriage by popular vote. Mitt Catches Pacquiao-Márquez Bout Politics and pugilism met Saturday as Mitt Romney viewed a Las Vegas matchup between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Márquez. “Hello, Manny. I ran for president. I lost,” Romney said in a prefight visit to Pacquaio’s dressing room, according to the brawler’s publicist. Romney was joined by his wife, Ann, for the fight at the MGM Grand hotel arena. A bloodied Márquez secured a victory in the sixth round Saturday, dropping Pacquaio to the mat with a snarling right punch and bringing an end to a four-fight rivalry.
