Draft Jose Canseco to moderate GOP primary debates in 2016 -- Another day, another budget -- Regurgitating freedom -- Menendez news -- Tweet of Yesterday -- Today in North Korean News | 1.) Draft Jose Canseco to moderate GOP primary debates in 2016 -- The Republican National Committee chairman says he doesn’t want liberal journalists and commentators to moderate the GOP’s presidential primary debates in 2016. TheDC’s Alex Pappas reports:
“When conservatives complain about the harm that the endless debate schedule had on the 2012 Republican primary candidates, the conversation often turns to the hosts and the moderators. Why are Republican candidates letting someone like ABC’s George Stephanopoulos — a former aide to Democrat Bill Clinton — ask them ‘gotcha questions’ during a GOP primary? … And RNC chairman Reince Priebus told The Daily Caller that the party does not only want to reduce the number of debates. The RNC, he said, also wants to explore the possibility of choosing who actually asks the questions during the debates. ‘I think the party should have more control over who moderates, and we should have more control over the partners,’ Priebus told TheDC.”
What the GOP needs is an independent moderator, one who has proven himself a truth-teller. TheDC Morning proposes Jose Canseco. And in case you are wondering what Jose Canseco knows about politics, well, that’s a good question. TheDC Morning can confirm he occasionally tweets about political topics. More often, however, his tweets are endearingly incoherent. What’s for sure is the debates would be entertaining, if not always informative. | 2.) Another day, another budget -- Conservative House Republicans have released an alternative to the budget produced by Rep. Paul Ryan. TheDC’s Alexis Levinson reports:
“As Republicans and Democrats try to find middle ground between the budgets that each side has proposed, the most conservative members of the House are throwing another budget into the mix, one that would balance the budget in four years. The Republican Study Committee’s ‘Back to Basics’ budget proposes some of the same things as the budget introduced last week by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, but it proposes to balance the budget by 2017, rather than 2023. It does so by returning discretionary spending to $950 billion, lower than 2008 levels, cutting non-defense discretionary spending by $6 billion over 10 years and making serious cuts to entitlements.”
TheDC Morning will also release its own, even more conservative budget in the coming days that, like the RSC budget, has no chance of becoming law. It will balance the budget in 93 minutes, in part by raising Medicare and Social Security eligibility to 103 years old. If you are one of those liberal elites who think TheDC Morning probably came up with its age of eligibility randomly, you’d be wrong. Our formula was simple: We averaged the ages the prophets Abraham and Moses died at, rounded up and subtracted 45, the jersey number Michael Jordan initially wore when he returned to basketball in 1995 after his first retirement. It’s called science. | 3.) Regurgitating freedom -- In his new book “Devouring Freedom,” The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Jim Antle says the government is growing at a rapid rate. But Antle tells TheDC’s Jamie Weinstein in an interview about his book that we can still reverse course:
“While Antle documents the government’s ever-expanding role in the lives of its citizens in his book, he says the cause of reversing course is not entirely hopeless. Among the things that need to be done, he said, is to change the narrative that big government is good for the poor. ‘I think conservatives and libertarians have to break this narrative that big government hurts the rich and helps the poor,’ Antle said. ‘In many cases, the opposite is true. The new welfare queens are General Electric, General Motors, the big pharmaceutical companies that helped pass Obamacare and profit from its mandates and subsidies, Solyndra, and a whole host of crony capitalists.’”

“Police in the Dominican Republic say they have determined that three women who said they had sex with a U.S. senator for money were in fact paid to make false claims by an attorney in the Caribbean country, according to the Associated Press. That determination, police say, was made based on the claims of three women who told cops they had lied about having sex with U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey. … TheDC has not independently verified the identities of the women involved in the Dominican National Police investigation, but will continue to investigate the case." | | 5.)
