What doesn't Obamacare do? -- If you answered "registers people to vote," it looks like you could potentially be wrong. TheDC's Caroline May reports: "The online application draft for health care insurance under Obamacare inquires if the applicant would like to register to vote and directs the applicant to a registration page if they answer in the affirmative. Page 59 of the 61 page draft application, 'List of Questions in the Online Application to Support Eligibility Determinations for Enrollment' developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and first reported by The Washington Examiner, asks applicants 'Would you like to register to vote?' The 'yes' answer linking to a blank registration form." | 2.) This ad was actually made -- Here's looking at you Ford Motors India. TheDC's Vince Coglianese reports: "Ford Motors India has issued an apology after a Ford advertising poster surfaced depicting scantily-clad women bound and gagged in the trunk of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s car. The poster features a grinning caricature of Berlusconi and three women tied up in the Ford Figo’s 'extra-large' trunk. Berlusconi is well-known for his 'bunga bunga' sex parties." Now, the former Italian prime minister has a reputation as a ladies' man, but that reputation has never included tying women up and putting them in the back of a Ford. The billionaire media mogul is probably sickened by the notion that he would ever do anything like that --- and by that, TheDC Morning means drive a Ford. | 3.) Sowell speaks -- The heralded conservative intellectual speaks to TheDC's Caroline May: "Hoover Institution senior fellow Thomas Sowell argues that the prevailing racial views that intellectuals unite around often serve to harm society and the racial groups about which they theorize. In an interview with The Daily Caller last week about his most recent book 'Intellectuals and Race' Sowell explained that the desire of intellectuals — those who make their living off ideas and theories — to create all-encompassing reasons for racial differences often leaves little room for nuance or contradicting views." Read the full interview. | 4.) You want my autograph? -- Visitors to former Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton sometimes received a present. TheDC's Jamie Weinstein reports: "Foreign dignitaries who came to Hillary Clinton’s court at the State Department during the early days of her tenure as America’s chief diplomat often left with an autographed copy her autobiography, according to a new book on Clinton’s time as secretary of state. In her book 'The Secretary,' BBC State Department correspondent Kim Ghattas writes that the State Department was deluged with visits from foreign diplomats, particularly from Europe, after Clinton was confirmed as secretary of state in early 2009. The foreign ministers of various countries usually pressed Clinton to visit their country in her new role, according to Ghattas. 'No promises were made and most visitors left with a signed copy of Hillary’s autobiography, Living History,' writes Ghattas." How modest of her. | 5.)
