(Don't) Put A Ring On It

Social conservatives are singing the praises of youthful marriage—and skewing the facts on its benefits and costs. By Amanda Marcotte.

SECOND CHANCE

Smiling and waving, his conviction overturned, a confident Hosni Mubarak showed up for his retrial in Cairo. But the moment was cut short when the judge recused himself, and delayed the trial of the former Egyptian president indefinitely. The Daily Beast's Mike Giglio reports.

With Vivian Salama.

SWING AND A MISS

Well, this is awkward. Tiger Woods, a man whose name is for some synonymous with golf, faced disqualification at the Masters on Saturday for a ball-drop incident from the day before. Instead, he received a two-stroke penalty. The famed golfer was 36 holes and only three strokes off the lead when the tournament's Rules Committee began reviewing his possible rules infraction. The incident? After shooting a ball into the water, Woods dropped a new one a full two yards from its original spot. The four-time Masters champion has already been guilty of one infraction this year, in another tournament.

GEOGRAPHY LESSON

The bad news: North Korea has threatened to attack another North American city, this time Colorado Springs, where the U.S. Air Force Academy resides. The good news: North Korea seems to have no idea where Colorado Springs actually is. The bellicose country has released a propaganda video showing the mountain city to be about 1,000 miles from where it actually is, putting it somewhere in Louisiana. Despite reports of possibly having nuclear weapons, we don't think you should be too worried just yet.

MIRACLE AT SEA

A Lion Air flight carrying 172 people made a water landing on Saturday morning off the coast of Bali after overshooting the runway at Bali International Airport. Surprisingly, no deaths were reported and only one person was confirmed as having suffered injuries. Eighteen people total were taken to the hospital to be checked on. Authorities say the plane is new and the pilot was fir to fly, although it is not clear whether the same pilot was flying the plane the entire time, as Lion Air pilots are limited to 8 hours of flying per day.
