Just Bought The Attention Of 15.6 Million 16-24 Year-Olds (Global Web Index) To say Tumblr has a youthful user base is an understatement. Nearly half, or 46% of its 34 million active users in the first quarter of 2013 were between the ages of 16 and 24, according to the Global Web Index. That's 15.6 million users in their late teens and early twenties, roughly the same population as Guatemala. Yahoo has a "coolness" problem among younger demographics, and so by acquiring Tumblr, it is claiming turf among youthful demographics in the competitive world of social media giants.
